Massage therapy isn't just relaxing; it's a powerful way to enhance your health. Techniques like effleurage and wringing help improve circulation by pushing blood toward the heart, boosting your body's natural healing process. Embrace the warmth and care of massage for a healthier you. ❤️

Effleurage is often used to improve circulation. Effleurage is a gentle massage technique that ranges in pressure. Flattened hands and fingers are used during effleurage in directional strokes. Effleurage stimulates the receptors within the body that cause the dilation of blood vessels. The dilation of blood vessels is also known as vasodilation. Vasodilation decreases blood pressure and allows an increase I blood flow through the vessels, therefore improving circulation of blood. Improving circulation of blood through effleurage helps to increase muscle flexibility, increasing range of movement and decreasing restriction. A decrease in restriction reduces pain.

Wringing can help to improve circulation. Wringing is where flat hands and fingers are used to pick and pull both sides of the treatment area to the center in opposite directions. Wringing is most commonly used to loosen tight muscles, relieve tension and decrease restriction. Wringing creates friction between the skin and fingers through the picking up and pulling actions. Friction encourages an improvement in circulation. An improvement in circulation through wringing encourages metabolic wastes (NOT TOXINS) to be flushed from the body and healthy nutrients to be delivered to muscles.

Do you find it annoying needing to complete an intake form for a massage? I get it, but there IS a very good reason for it. As a licensed massage therapist, we need to know any medical history, medications, prior or new injuries or surgeries, etc. to rule out any contraindications. When you arrive for your session, we will likely also ask questions about your daily activities, occupation, or even your hobbies.

Yes, we ask those questions to get to know you on a personal level, but we are also trying to piece together the most effective treatment as well as providing some suggestions for after care/self-care.

A good massage therapist truly wants to help you in the best way possible within their scope of practice and have your best interest at heart!

Being open and honest with your therapist is the best way to make sure you get the most effective treatment for your body. 🫶🏼

What is fascia? Fascia is a continuous, three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every muscle, bone, organ, and nerve in your body. When healthy, it is elastic, smooth, and slippery, allowing muscles to glide easily. It needs to be released when it becomes tight, dehydrated, or scarred from stress, poor posture, or injury, which causes it to stick to surrounding tissues, limit mobility, and create chronic pain.

Why does it need to be released?
When fascia tightens—often forming tough, gummy layers called adhesions—it wreaks havoc on the body in a few distinct ways:

~ Restricted Movement: Because fascia wraps around all of your moving parts, stiff fascia acts like a tight, shrinking sweater that restricts your range of motion.

~ Pain and Nerve Compression: Fascia is incredibly rich in sensory nerve endings. When it dries out and swells, it presses on these nerves, causing intense localized pain or even "referred pain" that you feel in a completely different area of your body.

~ Poor Posture: Prolonged sitting (like at a desk) or repetitive movements cause the fascia to adapt and permanently tighten in certain positions, pulling joints out of alignment and reinforcing poor posture.

Discover the secret to improved mobility with massage therapy! Experience assisted stretching to boost your muscle pliability and joint freedom. PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching, an advanced flexibility technique that combines passive stretching with active muscle contractions, is also extremely beneficial. It tricks the nervous system into relaxing a muscle, allowing for a deeper stretch and increased range of motion than traditional static stretching. It essentially acts as a neurological "reset". Are you prepared to move with ease? 🧘‍♂️🦵

What muscle is that? Yes.🤪In all seriousness, I can target specific neck muscles but there are A LOT of muscles and attachment sites in the neck so it would take some questions, assessment, & palpating to determine the culprit. Additionally, the pain in the neck could be coming from somewhere entirely different than your neck (referred pain) 👐✨

Struggling to get a good night's sleep? Discover how massage can activate your relaxation response, helping you rest deeply and wake up refreshed. 🌙💤 Therapeutic massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS, the "rest and digest" branch of your autonomic nervous system). It conserves energy, slows your heart rate, and stimulates digestion, acting as the counter-balance to the sympathetic "fight or flight" response, it is most active when you feel safe, relaxed, and are recovering from stress.
