Your body didn’t suddenly forget how to lose weight when you hit your 40s and 50s. Hormonal shifts, reduced insulin sensitivity, and chronic stress changed how it stores fat and responds to the same habits.

Perimenopause weight gain requires a new strategy, not more shame, restriction, or another lecture about willpower.

Save this video for the next time someone tells you to “eat less and exercise more.”

You are not “in menopause” for a decade, it’s just one moment in time. Now, you may hear us doctors use the terms menopause and postmenopause interchangeably, but I want you to know the true definitions.

Perimenopause is the 8-10 years prior to menopause and it’s also the time when hormones can rise and fall dramatically leading to unpredictable symptoms.

Save this and share it with someone else who may need to hear it. Knowing which phase you are in can help you advocate for care that reflects what your body is actually experiencing.

Perimenopause Rage is hormonal. You are not imagining the sudden irritability, overwhelm, or rage. As progesterone declines during perimenopause, its calming support for GABA signaling can decrease, making your emotional responses feel more intense even though your personality has not changed.

This is not a character flaw. It is a real hormonal shift that deserves to be recognized, understood, and properly addressed.

Tag the person who needs to see this before they ask, “Why are you so mad?” one more time.

Menopause is a natural transition, but suffering through years of brain fog, sleepless nights, joint pain, mood changes, and hot flashes should never be accepted as the standard of care.

You deserve more than being told to push through; you deserve support that helps you feel like yourself again.

I am hosting a FREE live master class on Thursday, July 23rd, and I invite you to join.

If you’ve been told that your weight struggles, exhaustion, and brain fog are simply due to aging, I want to spend 90 minutes with you.

In this master class, I will reveal the 3 hidden drivers that traditional medicine often overlooks, along with the 5-step blueprint I used to lose 60 lbs during perimenopause when nothing else seemed effective.

This approach predates the introduction of glp-1s.

I apply this same blueprint with women in my practice every day.

Your body is not working against you. It is communicating through symptoms like fatigue, low libido, poor sleep, and stubborn weight changes.

These signals may indicate underlying changes in your hormones, blood sugar levels, or stress response. Ignoring them does not make them disappear. Identifying these patterns can help you understand where to start.

Your body is divinely designed with an incredible capacity to heal, but it needs the right support in the right order.

Comment the word “Guide” below, and I’ll send you my free guide, 3 Secrets to Hormone Balance Every Woman Should Know.

Bioidentical hormones are not only safe, but they could extend your life. Use of bioidentical hormones is associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer. Yes. You read that right.

Before someone convinces you to fear hormones, understand the difference between bioidentical and synthetic. They are NOT the same.

Could estrogen dominance be the reason you have stubborn weight settling around your hips and belly despite your best efforts? Or perhaps your periods are getting heavier and your mood feels unpredictable.

I’m Dr. Malaika Woods, a double board-certified physician in obstetrics and gynecology and obesity medicine. After treating women in perimenopause and menopause for more than a decade, and navigating my own hormonal and metabolic challenges, I have seen how often this pattern is misunderstood or missed.

Estrogen dominance does not always mean estrogen is high. It can mean estrogen is too high in relation to progesterone, creating symptoms even when your lab results appear “in range.” This imbalance is especially common during the stage called the “zone of chaos,” when estrogen becomes unpredictable while progesterone steadily declines.

In this video, I explain what estrogen dominance really means, the overlooked factors that can make it worse, and how it may affect your sleep, mood, metabolism, thyroid function, and inflammation.

What I find most encouraging is that estrogen dominance is not something you simply have to live with. Once the full hormonal picture is understood, there are practical ways to address the drivers and support your body more effectively.

Estrogen dominance is a fat storing state. It’s not just a simple hormonal imbalance.

Factors such as xenoestrogens, gut dysfunction, liver overload, and chronic stress all play significant roles in how estrogen is processed, cleared, and balanced within the body.

Which of these four drivers surprised you the most?

This is the perimenopause pattern no one is connecting: the symptoms, the exhaustion, the distance in your relationships, and the feeling that you are slowly disappearing from your own life.

You deserve care that looks at the full pattern, with someone willing to connect what your body has been trying to explain.
