Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued.
It is both a celebration and a remembrance.
A celebration of resilience, culture, community, and the enduring contributions of Black Americans.
And a remembrance of a significant chapter in our nation's history.
Juneteenth also provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of dignity, freedom, belonging, and community.
At Aram, we recognize that identity, culture, history, and lived experiences can all play important roles in shaping well-being and connection.
As we recognize Juneteenth, we honor those who came before us, celebrate the strength and contributions of Black communities, and continue fostering spaces where people feel respected, valued, and supported.
