Our condolences to the family and friends of Senator Janet Howell. We are truly grateful for her many years of service to Virginia, advocating for people with developmental disabilities, strengthening our schools, and supporting families.

We were saddened to learn of Senator Janet Howell's passing.

Senator Howell was a true leader and a tireless advocate for the rights of people with developmental disabilities, fighting for and alongside families across Virginia as our Commonwealth worked toward becoming a more inclusive place for everyone

We are grateful for her years of leadership and service to Virginia.

Her family, friends and colleagues are in our hearts.

🎉 Happy Disability Independence Day! Many thanks to Loudoun County for recognizing 36 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act this week.

On July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law — a landmark moment that affirmed the rights, dignity, and independence of millions of Americans with disabilities.

Today, we celebrate:
✊ The disability rights activists and advocates who fought tirelessly for this change
🌍 The progress made in accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity
💪 The work that still lies ahead to build a truly accessible world for everyone

The Arc of Loudoun strives to bring about a just, equitable world for people with disabilities. Let's keep pushing for a world where accessibility isn't an afterthought, but the standard.
