Leo was the consensus choice as the member of our healing herd who’s most cheerful on the morning. Apropos of our upcoming fundraiser (with music from The Ragweeds), this week we’re wondering which horse would be most likely to end up in the center of a dance circle. Drop your vote in the comments ⬇️.

Why a horse?

A horse notices tension, breath, and body language, and responds to the person in front of it. It doesn’t ask what happened on deployment or on the last call.

Through VALOR HERD, veterans, active duty and retired service members, law enforcement, other first responders, and their families take part in trauma-informed sessions with a licensed therapist, an equine professional, and a horse. Much of what people carry after service, including PTSD, can’t be seen. Here, participants practice regulation, trust, and connection at their own pace.

“This program changed my life and helped me discover a peace and strength within myself I thought I had permanently lost.” U.S. Army veteran

Sessions are offered at no cost to participants. Your support is what makes each one possible. On October 25, we gather at FORKLIFT for Horsepower for Healing.
