Deridder, Louisiana Mr. James Utalis Jackson, 61 a native of Opelousas, Louisiana and a resident of Deridder, Louisiana passed on Sunday March 8, 2026 in Deridder, Louisiana.
Mr. Jackson was loved by everyone who knew him. He was always known for his attention to detail. No matter what the plan was he would map it out to make sure it went in the order it was written.
He was a retired Army veteran who took pride in his service in the military. His family and friends will miss him dearly but the picture of that cheery smile will stay in their hearts forever.

A visitation service will begin on Friday March 20, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Rowe Funeral Home and Memorial Park 1352 Belview Road Leesville, Louisiana 71446 337-353-8762, with a Graveside service with military honors at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 3348 University Parkway Fort Johnson, Louisiana. Pastor Joseph Garner will pray words over the family for comfort.
Mr. James Jackson is survived by his mother, Eleanor Jackson of Opelousas, Louisiana; Three brothers, Joe Nathan Jackson Jr. (Laverne), Ronald Jackson (Sherry), Sherman Jackson (Mona); Two sisters, Lois Ginger, and Stephana Jackson Williams(Dedrick); a special great nephew, Joseph "J.J." Milton Jr.; and a host of other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Nathan Sr. ; Sister, Helen Milton; and Two nephews, Joe Nathan III and Vernon Jackson.

Mrs. Shannon Sue Stevens, 53, a native of Kansas City Missouri, and a resident of Leesville, Louisiana passed away on Monday March 9, 2026 in Leesville, Louisiana.
Mrs. Shannon a beloved wife and an adored was loved and cherish my her family. There was nothing that she would not do for them andf the love they had for her was unmeasurable.
Mrs. Shannon's presence will be avoid in their everyday life but the love they have for her will never fade away.
A private family memorial will take place at a later date.

SHIRLEY RUTH HOWARD
July 7, 1943 - February 12, 2026
LEESVILLE — Shirley Ruth Howard, 82, passed away on February 12, 2026, in Leesville, LA. Born on July 7, 1943, Shirley was born and raised in the Prien Lake community and later became a resident of Leesville where she was a cherished member of the community.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Carmen Wright of Leesville, LA; Dionne Howard Ware and her husband, Pastor Marcus Ware of Red Oak, TX; Leah Howard Robinson and her husband, Dale Robinson of Lake Charles, LA. She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Jason Wright, Mathew Howard, Nicholas Ware, Meagan Howard, and Morgan Howard, and three great-grandchildren, Darius Smith, Amauri Abigail Zeno, and Eryn Iman Frazier.
She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Lafanette of Fresno, TX, and her brother, Arthur Fontenot Sr. and his wife, Princess of Shreveport, LA. Two sisters-inlaw Edna Lafanette and Brenda Lafanette
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ryan and Mary Duhon Sonnier; her parents, James Howard and Mary Sonnier; her brothers, Harvey James Lafanette and Horace John Lafanette; her sisters, Betty Ruth Howard, Beverly Ann Lafanette, and Barbara Lafanette Allison; her nephew, Arthur Fontenot Jr.; and her godchild, Cynthia Porter Smith.
Shirley was a graduate of Washington High School and furthered her education at Demmons School of Beauty. She was a devout member of New Willow Baptist Church in Leesville, LA, where she participated actively in
the community.
A service to honor Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at New Willow Baptist Church, Leesville, LA. Visitation will begin at 9 am followed by a Funeral service at 11 am. Interment follows at Hi-Mount Cemetery in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jackie Hortense Buvens, age 79. He passed away in his home in Leesville, LA on November 30th, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his Father Louis G. Buvens and Mother Augusta Williams-Buvens.
Survived and deeply missed by his Daughters, JoAnna Marie Buvens-Williams and Lindsay Kate Buvens.
Grandchildren; Jakey Patrick Sepulvado, Blake Shane Baker, and Katie Claire Corley; his Brother, Jerry G. Buvens and Sister Linda Buvens-Butts;
Along with a host of extended family members and friends.
It was Jackie's wish for his life to be celebrated by those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Church Point, Louisiana- Mr. James Busby, 80, a native of Mallet, Louisiana and a resident of Church Point, Louisiana.
Mr. James was a kind man with a gentle heart. He had a way with people that they would never forget. He loved his family, and they loved him dearly. Missing him would be hard but remembering him would be something greatly cherished. James “Jim” Busby, born June 16, 1945, in Pot Cove, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on
November 27, 2025, at Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the age of 80. He was the son of Purnell Busby and Edolia Dorsey Busby. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley
Busby; his children, Emond Brown, James Busby Jr., Elnor Busby, and Jeanette Marie Busby; and his siblings, Willard Broussard and his twin sister, Jeanette Busby Richard. He leaves
behind his daughter, Telieigia Busby; a host of grandchildren; his siblings, Floyd St. Endre, Loise “Marie” Guidry, and Katherine Thompson; and many extended family members and
friends who loved him dearly.
Raised in Pot Cove, La. Jim spent his early years working for and living with the Boy Fontenot family. He formed a lifelong bond with his best friend, Mr. Sherman Cravins of
Mallet, La. Jim built his life around hard work and helping others. He worked as a machine
operator in the agriculture industry and was also a skilled bricklayer, known for his steady
hands and dedication to every job he took on. He enjoyed working on machines and never
hesitated to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. His quiet kindness, reliability, and strong
work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on December 6, 2025, at First Benjamin
Baptist Church, located at 4228 LA-357 in Opelousas, Louisiana. Viewing will take place from
8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Zion Travelers Cemetery in Mallet, La. Pastor Albert Tezano will officiate the funeral Services.
Jim’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those
who loved him.

Mr. Kawarsky a great family man and wonderful husband spent much of his life caring for his children and showing his wife Donna how much he loved and appreciated her.
