This year, we traded spooky for STORYBOOK MAGIC! Our Puzzle Box Team (even some of the kiddos 😍) stepped straight out of the pages of our favorite children’s books, bringing some of our most beloved characters to life!

Our storybook adventures included:

And the magic didn’t stop with our costumes! 🪄We painted pumpkins, decorated sugar cookies, played Halloween BINGO, danced our hearts out, pinned the eye on the zombie, and trick-or-treated our way through the day!

And somewhere between the costumes, candy, and chaos came our favorite kind of magic… Watching all those little moments of growth happen naturally through play and relationship building. The conversations, the friendships, the turn-taking, the teamwork, the brave new experiences, and the pure JOY of celebrating together! 🥹✨

Today was the perfect reminder that social connections, imagination, and a little bit of magic can turn an ordinary day into an unforgettable story. Here’s to a Halloween filled with happy endings, beautiful friendships, and memories we’ll treasure long after the costumes come off!

Sometimes, the most meaningful moments at The Puzzle Box have nothing to do with the skills we’re teaching. They’re the moments when one child recognizes that another is having a hard time and instinctively offers comfort, a hug, or simply a safe place to lean!

Our clients have become more than peers. They’ve become best friends, each other’s biggest cheerleaders, and a source of comfort when the world feels overwhelming! Even our youngest learners are discovering what compassion, empathy, and unconditional friendship look like! They’re learning that sometimes helping a friend regulate doesn’t require words, solutions, or fixing anything! Sometimes, it just means being there to give the sweetest hug!

We teach so many skills here, but some of the most beautiful lessons are the ones our kids teach each other!

Meet the newest (and arguably cutest) member of The Puzzle Box fam… BEERBO! 💚🦎

When our leads and BCBAs brought up the idea of earning a center pet, we thought, “Sure, a little fish would be fun!” Well… apparently, we severely underestimated our kiddos negotiating skills.

After countless attempts at persuasion, signed petitions, vote for Beerbo posters plastered all over the center, and even TikToks explaining all the emotional and mental health benefits of bearded dragons (yes, they really went ALL OUT 🤣), how could we possibly say no?! And just like that… we went in expecting a fish and came our newest bestie! Turns out, the children were right, AGAIN! We are all completely in love with a bearded dragon!

Welcome to the family, Beebs! 💙🫶

Proof that sometimes the best additions to our center come with four legs, a tiny beard, and a VERY persuasive tiny team of children behind them!

When you work with your best friends, you don’t just celebrate the wins at work, you get to celebrate the beautiful moments outside of it too!! 💕🎀

We’re so happy to be celebrating our Lexie girl and the sweet baby girl she’s getting ready to welcome! Our Puzzle Box family is growing in the best way, and we already can’t wait to love on this cutie tiny little one!!✨ So much love for you, Lex! 💕

Our Discovery Gateway adventure may have been a couple weeks ago, but we’re still talking about it.

From building and creating to pretending, exploring, problem-solving, and laughing together, every exhibit became an opportunity to learn through play. The best part wasn’t just the museum…it was watching friendships grow, confidence shine, and curiosity take the lead.

These are the moments that remind us that some of the biggest learning happens outside the therapy room.

Thank you, Discovery Gateway, for giving our kiddos a place to explore, connect, and discover just how capable they are. We can’t wait for our next adventure! 💖☀️

This week’s field trip took us to Deer Creek Lake, and it may have been our favorite field trip yet! ☀️🌊

Our clients spent the day swimming, laughing, exploring, fishing, and making memories together. It looks like all fun, but behind it all, there was so much meaningful learning happening too

Every outing is an opportunity to practice important life skills in a natural environment. Throughout the day, our clients worked on:
🌊 Practicing social interactions and conversations
🤝 Taking turns and sharing
💙 Encouraging and cheering on friends
🧩 Problem-solving together
✨ Being flexible when plans changed
😊 Waiting patiently, following group expectations, and so much more…. but most importantly they were creating memories side by side.
These are the moments where skills learned in therapy come to life. Watching our clients gain confidence, connect with one another, and succeed in real-world settings is one of our favorite parts of what we do.
We’re so proud of every child for stepping outside their comfort zone, trying new things, being brave, supporting one another, and making this week’s field trip such a special adventure.
Thank you to our incredible staff for making this week’s adventure safe, meaningful, magical, and so much fun.

Happy 4th of July! ❤️🤍💙 Today we’re especially grateful to live in a place that gives us the freedom to do what we love most… building meaningful relationships with our Puzzle Box kiddos and their families!! Hoping everyone had a safe, happy, and joy-filled Independence Day! 🫶

Some goodbyes just don’t feel fair. 🤍

Today we said “see you soon” to our sweet Trinity as she starts a new adventure in Washington. There weren’t many dry eyes in the building because when someone leaves a piece of their heart with every child, every family, and every teammate, you can’t help but feel it.

Trinity, thank you for the love, patience, laughter, and kindness you’ve poured into our Puzzle Box family. You have made such a huge impact that will continue long after today. We all love you so much, especially your kiddos! 🫶

As we were all trying to hold back the tears, one of her clients said something that perfectly captured what all of us were feeling:

“I never said I had a favorite staff… but you were my favorite. And I won’t cry because it’s over, I’m crying because it happened.” 🥹

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. This is why we do what we do! Our clients build these beautiful relationships and friendships with their staff!

Washington is incredibly lucky to have our Trinity Girl, but we’ll miss her more than words can say. Once a Puzzle Box family member, always a Puzzle Box family member.

Sometimes the best moments aren’t on the schedule. ☀️🍧

Today called for a spontaneous shave ice field trip because at The Puzzle Box, we believe that when we work hard, we get to play hard too. 💙

Our clients spend so much time learning, growing, practicing new skills, and overcoming challenges. Celebrating those victories, big and small, is just as important.

What a beautiful start to summer at The Puzzle Box! ☀️ We kicked things off with a Pancake Bar that our clients helped create, enjoyed a fun day at the park, and continued what is now becoming a Puzzle Box summer tradition, tie-dyeing shirts together!

There’s something special about watching friendships grow, confidence shine, and memories be made through simple moments of connection and fun! Community outings and group activities also provide wonderful opportunities to build and generalize important social skills, such as sharing, turn taking, advocating for oneself, manding, respecting personal space, and so much more in natural, meaningful settings!

Here’s to a summer full of so much laughter, adventure, and finding places where every piece fits. 💙
