Have you ever wondered what that "pop" sound is during a chiropractic adjustment? It's not your bones cracking or being put back into place. The sound is created when a joint is stretched, causing a rapid change in pressure inside the joint. This allows tiny gas bubbles in the joint's lubricating fluid to form and then rapidly collapse, creating the familiar popping sound.

It's very similar to what happens when you open a can of soda, the sudden change in pressure causes dissolved gas to come out of solution, producing the characteristic fizz.

Contrary to popular belief, the pop isn't what makes the adjustment effective. Some adjustments produce an audible release, while others don't, and both can still help improve joint motion and function. The pop is simply a normal physical phenomenon, not the measure of a successful adjustment!

Warmer weather means more time outdoors, and more chances to become dehydrated. Staying hydrated does more than quench your thirst; it helps support your energy, muscle and joint function, digestion, and your body's ability to regulate its temperature. It also helps keep your spinal discs and muscles healthy, supporting better movement and recovery.

Make hydration part of your daily routine! Carry a reusable water bottle, enjoy water-rich fruits and vegetables, and drink water consistently throughout the day, especially when you're spending time in the heat. Don't wait until you feel thirsty to hydrate!

What's your favorite way to stay hydrated during the summer? Do you prefer plain water, lemon/ cucumber water, or something else? Let us know in the comments!

One thing we see all the time is people dealing with neck tension from spending hours looking down at phones, tablets, and laptops. Here's a fact that surprises many people: your head weighs about 10 to 12 pounds. As your head moves forward from its natural position, the stress on your neck increases significantly.

Take a quick posture check right now. Is your head sitting over your shoulders, or is it drifting forward? Small habits throughout the day, such as taking regular breaks from sitting, rolling your shoulders back, raising your screen to eye level, and stretching, can help reduce stress on your neck. If neck tension is becoming a regular part of your day, we're here to help!

Your knees do more than you realize. Walking, running, squatting, climbing stairs, exercising, and even standing for long periods all place stress on these complex joints every day.

The knee is one of the most mobile joints in the body, but that mobility also makes it more vulnerable to injury and irritation. Because so many structures work together, knee pain is rarely “just knee pain.” Ligaments, cartilage, muscles, movement patterns, and even hip and ankle function can all play a role.

At our office, we focus on identifying the root causes of your pain and restoring proper movement and function through individualized care.

Come back Thursday for a behind-the-scenes look at how we treat knee pain, including knee decompression and an adjustment!

This week’s treatment spotlight is all about shoulders. Did you know that poor posture doesn’t just affect your neck and back? It can also be a major cause of shoulder pain!

Spending hours sitting, driving, or looking down at phones can cause the chest muscles (especially the pecs) to become tight and shortened. Over time, this pulls the shoulders forward, limits mobility, and can cause pain.

The good news? Small changes in posture and targeted stretching can make a big difference. Tune in this Thursday for simple at-home stretches from Dr. Dan to help open the chest, improve posture, and relieve shoulder discomfort!
