Sobriety matters. It saves lives.

But for many people, it is only the starting line.

After the crisis has passed, there is still the real work of rebuilding: your health, your emotional life, your relationships, your confidence, your community, and your sense of purpose.

Too many people are told to be grateful just to be sober, while quietly wondering why they still feel disconnected, unhealthy, numb, or unsure of who they are.

Sobriety is the beginning. Recovery is rebuilding the person.

Which part of rebuilding has been hardest for you: health, emotions, connection, confidence, or purpose?

Recovery is not always about what you are recovering from. Sometimes it is about what helps you come back to yourself.

Really proud to work at Miraval Berkshires Resort & Spa, which Men’s Health recently recognized in its 2026 Travel Awards under its “Recovery” category.

They described it as “a summer camp for adults,” and that captures something important: recovery can include rest, movement, challenge, play, connection, time outside, trying something new, and remembering there is more to life than getting through the week.

That is a big part of what I believe in through RecoverYOU too.

Not just surviving. Not just avoiding what hurts us.

Building a life that helps us feel more alive in it.

Our editors searched the globe for the best adventures, recovery retreats, and relaxing escapes.

“The most evidence-based prescription is sometimes not a prescription at all.”

Nutrition is not a side issue in recovery.

It affects mood, sleep, energy, stress tolerance, and the ability to show up for the life we are trying to rebuild.

Recovery is not just about what we stop doing. It is also about what we begin giving our body.

I spent some time this week at the Wilson House in East Dorset, Vermont - the birthplace of Bill Wilson, one of the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Whatever someone thinks about the 12 steps, it is hard to deny the scale of what began from a few people trying to help each other stay alive.

Recovery culture has saved countless lives: meetings, treatment, sponsorship, peer support and community matter. They mattered for me.

And at the same time, I think recovery has to keep evolving.

Staying sober is essential. But eventually the question becomes:

What are we building now that we are sober?

A body we feel at home in.
Real relationships.
Confidence.
Meaning.
Purpose.
A life that is not just free from addiction, but full enough that we want to stay present for it.

That is the work RecoverYOU is about.

if it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.

That doesn't mean recovery has to be miserable.

It means growth usually asks something of us.

A little more honesty.
A little more courage.
A little more consistency.
A little more willingness to step into the life we say we want.

Sobriety is the beginning.

Recovering who you are is the work.

Most people in recovery move through two main worlds: clinical treatment and peer support.

Both matter. Both save lives.

But there is another space that often gets overlooked: the real-world gap.

What happens when someone is no longer in treatment, but still needs help rebuilding their body, emotions, confidence, community, relationships, and purpose?

That is the gap RecoverYOU is here to address.

Treatment alone isn’t enough. Recovery has to become a full-life transformation.

It’s time to RecoverYOU.
