At the age of 10, my meme introduced me to knitting and crochet. I immediately fell in love with the process, watching a simple ball of yarn transform into various

shapes with just a hook or needles. Now, years later, my passion for these crafts has only grown stronger. Each time I sit down to knit or crochet, it feels like a therapeutic escape from the chaotic pace of daily life. As one enjoys creating, seeing others appreciate my work is an added bonus. In 2023, I launched my Hugs for Heads business as a tribute to my dear friend Denise who passed away after battling cancer for years. During her hair loss journey, she struggled to find headwear that made her feel confident and beautiful. That's when I made her a hat that became known as "My Denise". Her smile said it all - she felt pretty again. My goal with this collection is to bring comfort and joy to anyone facing illness or simply looking for something special to wear. A portion of all proceeds will go to the Cancer Support Fund of Central Mass in loving memory of Denise Downes♡ & Virginia Tocci♡

One afternoon. One bag. You can feel it. 🧶

The two cream-and-brown granny squares in this little square bag was stitched at my studio table, one motif at a time, until the whole thing held its shape like a small piece of architecture.

The braided strap is just cute! The brass snap got handset, so it sits flush against the texture.

Roomy enough for your phone, a lip balm, your keys, and a paperback for the bench at the park.

Every bead placed by hand. Every stitch holds a weight you can feel the second you lift it.

This little navy pouch took hours to build. The spider came first, gem by gem. Black body, clear rhinestones along the back, and eight gold-beaded legs stitched down one at a time so they sit just right against the crochet.

Then came the navy backdrop, row after row, soft enough to cradle the beadwork without swallowing it.

It's small in your palm and heavier than it looks. That's what slow craft feels like 🕷🧶

That cream beanie you reach for every chilly morning? It needs a little more love than you might think. 🧶

Every single stitch in this hat was shaped by hand by Kelly. Ten minutes of the right habits is all it takes to keep it looking beautiful for years.

Here are 3 small things that protect every stitch Kelly made:

How to store it: lay it flat or loosely folded, never crumpled in the back of a drawer where the brim gets crushed.
How to spot clean: dab gently with cool water and a touch of mild soap, no rubbing, so the fibers don't fuzz or pill.
How to dry it: shape the brim while damp and lay flat on a towel, never hang it (the weight will stretch it out).

He's heavier than he looks, and that's the thing about handmade. Every loop of cream cotton, every fluffy brown accent, every curl in those tentacles was shaped by hand at my workshop table, one stitch at a time.

Look close and you can see the structure. The ridges where the rounds meet. The soft give where the stuffing settles. The little quirks that say "a person made this, not a machine."

You can feel the hours the moment it settles on your head. That's the weight of handmade. 🧶

Meet "My Denise" — a slouchy chunky beanie stitched in blues, greens, browns, pinks, and a soft white, finished with an oversized pom and a tiny tag that means it came from my hooks to your story.

Every loop was pulled by hand. Every color was chosen on purpose. The yarn carries the warmth, but the hat carries the why behind Hugs for Heads, in memory of Denise Downes and in support of the Cancer Support Fund of Central Mass.

Worn here on a golden autumn afternoon with an olive utility jacket and a cream cable knit. One person, one beanie, one slow-made piece doing exactly what it was made to do. 💛
