Despite what you may have been told in the past, there is NO SAFE AMOUNT of alcohol.

"Alcohol has long been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, placing it in the same category as to***co smoke and asbestos."

Our lifestyle choices are risk/benefit decisions, but the findings duscussed in the article "link alcohol consumption to an increased risk of death from breast, prostate, colon, re**al, stomach, pancreatic and liver cancers, along with cancers of the head and neck."

Study finds just one drink per day could raise risk of disease with impacts extending far beyond liver cancer

This is disappointing, for sure. But this is how science works. Researchers develop hypotheses and then test them. Sometimes the hypotheses are correct, and sometimes they are not--because what happens in a petri dish, or an animal, isn't necessarily what happens in humans. And this is why we continue to advocate for outcomes-based, randomized controlled studies. And this is why continued funding of high quality research is imperative.

Doctors were hopeful the drug, which was being tested in a large clinical trial by Novartis, was going to be a powerful new tool to fight heart disease.

Few details are available on the proposal, which has a 5-day comment period.

Infectious disease specialists are sounding the alarm about a Trump administration plan to eliminate a clinical research unit at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and Democrats in Congress say the plan is for the Pentagon to tap into the funds for defense spending.

In a joint statement, the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) said they "are concerned by a notice released Aug. 28 by the National Institutes of Health announcing a proposed overhaul of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' clinical research program with few details and a brief comment period. Changes of the magnitude suggested deserve a lengthier and meaningful opportunity for input from researchers, clinicians, community partners, and other stakeholders including Congress."

I see this all too often, and this is why I want to test the urine before giving anyone antibiotics.

A recent study found that many women treated for recurrent UTIs didn't have UTIs at all. Instead, their symptoms were caused by hormonally driven inflammation and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Do you like it hot? 🔥🌶️🔥🌶️🔥

Chili peppers are nutritionally beneficial, loaded with Vitamins C, B6, and K1.

Capsacin, the natural compound in chili peppers that gives them their spicy heat, also offers several proven and potential health benefits:

Pain Relief: Topical creams and patches containing capsaicin are FDA-approved and clinically proven to treat nerve pain, arthritis, and shingles after-effects by overstimulating and wearing out local pain receptors.

Metabolism and Weight Support: Eating capsaicin can slightly boost your metabolic rate and increase calorie burning through thermogenesis (heat production), while helping you feel fuller.

Anti-Inflammatory: The antioxidant properties in capsaicin fight low-grade inflammation linked to metabolic disorders like obesity and Type 2 diabetes.

Heart Health: Dietary capsaicin may help improve blood vessel function, lower blood pressure, and improve lipid and cholesterol profiles.

Gut Health: In normal dietary amounts, capsaicin can stimulate digestive fluids and support a healthy gut microbiome.

Whether your spice tolerance is high or low, you'll find these zingy facts have a real kick to them.
