Daniel R. Maybury, 65 of Poland, Maine passed away on May 27th after a courageous fight with cancer, with his wife by his side.

In school Dan enjoyed playing hockey with friends. At an early age Dan passed papers which stemmed his strong work ethic. He worked at Country Kitchen as it seemed everyone did at times! He also worked at BIW and Auburn Concrete. Dan became a commercial truck driver for Progressive Distributers then moved to other carriers, most recently RC Moore running tanker for Poland Spring. He enjoyed listening to audio books to pass the time on his runs. Dan enjoyed mystery and action books, tv shows and movies. Murder she wrote, Walker Texas Ranger, Columbo, Taken, and the Equalizers.

Dan enjoyed building motorcycles for himself as well as fixing for others, Dan would ride any chance he could. Dan was a wiz on anything mechanical. If it posed a challenge he was all over it. Solved it every time where other people would give up. He was very creative and would repair and paint things and you would never know there was prior damage.

Dan loved to go camping with friends and family, especially his dogs Sissy and Easton. He loved sitting by the fire, cooking meals and walking off the meals with the dogs through the campgrounds.

He could tell a story with the best of them, sometimes very elaborate!! Teasing his kids when they would get a snack from a vending machine. "Be careful he said, I had a brother who died doing that." It was unclear how many he had!!

Predeceased by parents Robert and Henrietta Maybury and brother Tony Maybury.

Survived by wife Tina, daughter Myla and fiancé Chris Purser of CA. Son Dariyan and fiancé Ashley Upham of Rockland, son Drew and wife Camilla of CA, sister Katie Paiton of Sabattus, several nieces, nephews, and greats. Grandchildren Evan and Kaitlyn Purser and Raeshon Pate.

Dan had a great spirit to help anyone and everyone and will be greatly missed. He will build and ride with his friends and brother now. Be free, Ride on!!

A celebration of life will be held in June. Date TBD.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Andwell Hospice House.

Ray was predeceased by his wife Sandra F. Maxwell on August 18, 2016. He is survived by his three daughters, Roberta D. Douglass, Melinda P. Whitworth and Rachel Abrena Strout. Grandchildren Miranda Wadsworth and husband Gary Wadsworth, Jason Simmons, Stephanie Fowler, Cory Simmons and Wyatte Damon. Great-Grandchildren Taylor Simmons, Tia Jordan, Austin Fye, Tessa Lovering, Alicia Lapointe, Sarah Tripp, Liliana Simmons-Palise, Teagan Wadsworth, and Canyon Simmons-Palise. Great-Great-Grandchildren, Karson Simmons, Easton Simmons, Elroy Arsenault (predeceased 06/16/2020), Hudson Simmons, Kinsley Haas, and Kalliope Tripp.

Raymond was always active in his community and was one of the first mustard team volunteers that started the Poland Fire Department. In Ray's younger years he could always be found at the local town garage working on racecars and his two oldest daughters Roberta and Melinda were known as the two Hot Rods! Ray worked many jobs from Poland Spring Bottle Company, Glick Brothers, S.E. McMillan and finishing his career as Mechanic at Callahan Brothers. In retirement he ran his own garage at his home along with a dear friend Dana Thurlow. Ray enjoyed camping at lake moxie at his family camp "Ruby's Place" where he would do a lot of trail riding with 3 wheelers and his youngest daughter Rachel had her own 110 three-wheeler, as she was always trying to keep up with them all. He was also one of the first people in the town of Poland along with "Hook Nose" otherwise known as Bob Merrill in starting the snowmobile club. Ray looked forward to his breakfast/lunch dates with his Grand-daughter Miranda! Ray could be found fishing, going to the annual moxie gathering that later turned into the local gathering for a pig roast at the Garland's. If you couldn't find Ray at home, he would be at the camp-lot on Thompson Lake was his favorite past-time to sit and watch the water, where family gatherings for a fish fry or cook out would happen annually. Ray was always busy either tinkering in the garage, planting in the greenhouse, gardening or working on a project of some kind. The-last year Ray always looked forward to homemade meals from his Grand-daughter Stephanie. Right up to the last two weeks before he passed, he had to hook up the wiring to the greenhouse! Ray was a man that was hard to hold down, even when it was difficult to walk, he was determined.

Thank you to Auburn Hospice especially Paulett was a wonderful RN that was very caring during her home visits over the last year and half during Ray's final days of battling cancer.

In honor of Ray Strout, we would like to ask if you would make a donation to be made to Poland Fire Department.

Sylvia Edmondson joined her husband as she entered heaven and into God's hands as she passed away on May 1, 2026, with her family at her side at the Lamp Memory Care Home in Lisbon Falls. Sylvia was born on the Wildes Road in Bowdoinham on April 23, 1935, the third of seven children to Milton and Ruth Vera Wildes Baker. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her parents, her siblings Stanley Baker, Larry Baker, Carolyn Chipman, and Myrna Jasper, and her beloved son Steven.

Sylvia attended the Jellerson School for four years before her family moved to the farm on River Road, where she then attended the Coombs School. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1952 as a member of the Hawthorne Chapter of the National Honor Society. Following her graduation, she worked for Attorney Joseph Aldred. Upon turning 18, Sylvia followed her lifelong dream and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After boot camp, Sylvia was stationed in Washington, D.C., where she subsequently met her future husband, who was already serving in the Navy. For the next several years, they moved up and down the East Coast of the United States, following her husband's career. Their three sons were born in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and South Carolina. As her husband's career was winding down, they moved to Bowdoinham, where they made their home upon his retirement.

For the next several years, Sylvia worked at the Naval Air Station Brunswick as a secretary in various departments, including Security, Medical, Commissary, and Administration. Sylvia's favorite position, however, was when she was elected the Town Clerk of Bowdoinham, serving in that role from 1984 to 1998.

Sylvia's passions were gardening, walking, quilting, family history, and caring for the many dogs and cats that made their home with her, many of which were rescue animals. Sylvia was particularly pleased to learn she was a descendant of five passengers aboard the Mayflower.

Another great joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, taking them on hikes to Wildes Point, swimming at Popham Beach, having tea parties, and baking a variety of holiday cookies together.

Sylvia and her husband Richard were able to travel throughout the country after their retirement, attending many ship reunions. Sylvia was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Bowdoinham and the Bowdoinham Historical Society.
