Eyes wide open or shut, we’ll take ya. The massage quality won’t change but your experience may! 👀DID YOU KNOW 👀 🧠👀 Closing the eyes reduces visual sensory input. Your brain has less incoming information to process, which can make it easier to disengage from the environment and settle into rest. 👀👀 Visual attention is strongly associated with alertness. Eyes open means the brain continues scanning and orienting to what is happening around you. Closing them removes much of that visual monitoring.
👀 Massage itself can shift the autonomic nervous system toward parasympathetic activity, the “rest and digest” side associated with lower arousal and relaxation. Removing visual stimulation can support the conditions for that downshift.
👀 Closing your eyes can increase attention to internal sensations. Without visual distractions, you’re more likely to notice breathing, muscle tension, pressure, warmth, and the physical sensations of the massage.
👀 Slow breathing often happens naturally as relaxation deepens. Slower breathing is associated with increased parasympathetic activity and reduced physiological arousal.
👀 You do not have to close your eyes for massage to work. There isn’t evidence that closed eyes make the physical effects of massage inherently better. It’s more accurate to say that reducing visual stimulation may make it easier for some people to relax and focus inward. Serving the greater DFW area. Located in Lewisville, Tx.
