That nagging tension, the headaches, the fatigue that won't quit — sometimes the root isn't where you feel it. Your spine and nervous system coordinate nearly everything your body does, which is why supporting them can ripple out in ways people don't expect.

Curis chiropractic care isn't about chasing the ache. It's about restoring the communication your body relies on to function and feel its best — and it's connected to your mental health and nutrition care, not siloed from it.

A reminder worth sharing, because so many people quietly write it off: chronic tiredness isn't always "just life."

Research points to low levels of key micronutrients — particularly B12 and folate — as an underappreciated driver of fatigue and low motivation, even in people who otherwise appear healthy. B12 deficiency is especially sneaky: its symptoms can mimic what we dismiss as normal aging.

The higher-risk groups are worth knowing: plant-based eaters (B12 is found mostly in animal foods), older adults (absorption declines with age), and long-term users of certain medications.

The takeaway isn't to self-diagnose or start megadosing — it's to take persistent fatigue seriously enough to mention it to a clinician and get a simple blood test, rather than powering through indefinitely. Sometimes the fix is far more addressable than people assume.

It's the mismatch between your weekday and weekend sleep schedules — stay up late and sleep in for a few days, and your internal clock ends up misaligned, much like crossing time zones without leaving home. And a study of nearly 7,000 people added a fascinating layer: lower gut microbiome diversity was associated with poorer sleep quality, a later chronotype, and greater social jet lag. The relationship between the gut and sleep appears to run in both directions.

The practical reset is refreshingly low-tech: a consistent wake time, morning light exposure, a gut-friendly diet rich in plant variety, and easing off late-night screens. Small levers, outsized effect on how you feel by midweek.

It's a good reminder that ""sleep,"" ""gut,"" and ""mood"" were never really separate systems — they're one connected picture. That's one of the lenses we bring to Curis.

A new study of nearly 300 people in northern Britain found that vitamin D levels often stayed low year-round in at-risk groups — and crucially, summer sun exposure didn't significantly raise levels among older adults or people from minoritized communities. Skin tone, age, sunscreen use, and time spent indoors all influence how much vitamin D we actually synthesize.

The honest caveat: this was a specific population, so it's not a universal rule. But the practical takeaway travels well — don't assume your levels are fine because it's July. Food sources help (fatty fish, eggs, fortified foods), and a simple blood test tells you what sunlight can't.

Your brain might love vitamin C more than you think. 🧠🍊

A new study of 2,000+ older adults found that people with lower vitamin C levels tended to have less gray matter — an intriguing clue that everyday nutrition and brain aging are connected.

It's an association, not proof — but vitamin C is easy (and delicious) to get from whole foods:
🫑 Bell peppers (more than oranges!)
🍓 Strawberries + kiwi
🥦 Broccoli + leafy greens
🍊 Citrus, of course

Colorful plate, supported brain. Simple wins compound.

Single-elimination football is engineered tension: one error and a team's tournament is over. Watching it, your body responds as if the threat were yours — elevated heart rate, adrenaline, a cortisol spike. The nervous system is notoriously bad at distinguishing a penalty shootout from an actual emergency.

The useful part is that the same regulation tools elite athletes train also work for the rest of us: extended exhales to engage the parasympathetic system, releasing physical tension (jaw, shoulders), and staying hydrated, since dehydration sharpens the stress response.

Messi just turned 39 — and he's still at a World Cup. 🐐⚽

Staying elite into your late 30s isn't luck. It's relentless attention to the stuff that doesn't show up on the highlight reel:
💪 Protecting muscle (protein + strength work fight age-related loss)
😴 Sleep as the #1 recovery tool — pros guard it obsessively
🥗 Anti-inflammatory eating to bounce back faster
🧘 Managing stress + recovery, not just training harder

The goal isn't to play in a World Cup. It's healthspan — staying strong, capable, and energetic for the long game.

What's one habit you're building for your future self? 👇

The expanded World Cup means something funny for fans: marathon viewing days, and hours of unconscious grazing.

Multiple matches back-to-back can mean six-plus hours on the couch with a steady stream of fast carbs. The result is a blood-sugar rollercoaster — spike, crash, repeat — which is exactly why the ""second-half slump"" feels so real.

The fix isn't restriction, it's structure:
→ A real meal (protein + fiber) before the first whistle
→ Keep nutrient-dense options within arm's reach, alongside the treats
→ Hydrate between drinks
→ Move at halftime — even a short walk blunts the post-meal spike

Enjoy the football and feel good afterward.

How do you handle a full match-day slate? 👇

The interest (nicknamed "fibermaxxing") traces back to gut research. The American Gut Project, the largest citizen-science microbiome study to date, found that people eating 30 or more different plant species per week had markedly more diverse gut microbiomes than those eating 10 or fewer — and microbiome diversity tracks with better outcomes across a wide range of health measures.

The practical takeaway is refreshingly simple: optimize for variety, not volume. Rotate plants, lean on beans, seeds, whole grains, herbs, and spices — and ramp up gradually so your gut can adapt.

It's a rare case where the viral trend and the evidence agree. Supporting a diverse, well-fed gut is foundational to how we think at Curis.

With some matches kicking off at 11 p.m., fans are routinely up past midnight — for weeks. It's easy to wave that off, but the physiology is real: even a few nights of short sleep elevates cortisol, increases next-day cravings for fast carbs, and measurably impairs concentration and decision-making.

You don't have to skip the games. You do have to manage the cost:
→ Cut caffeine by early afternoon on match days
→ Lower light exposure during the late broadcast
→ Anchor the next morning with bright light to re-set your circadian rhythm

How are you surviving the late kickoffs? 👇
