As kids head back to school, their eyes take on more than ever - books, screens, and hours of close-up focus every day. 📚💻

That extra strain can accelerate myopia (nearsightedness) in children.

Stellest™ lenses are clinically proven to slow that progression, helping protect your child's vision as they learn and grow. 💚👓

August is Children's Eye Health & Safety Month, and as South Carolina summers trade lake days for lunch boxes, there's no better time to make sure your child's vision is ready for the classroom ahead. 👁️✏️

Did you know that 80% of learning is visual? Clear, healthy vision is one of the most important tools your child can have in the classroom, yet many vision problems go undetected until they begin to impact academic performance.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kristy Heath-O'Brien to Eye Care of Lexington! 🎉

Dr. Kristy Heath-O'Brien is a South Carolina native originally from North Augusta. Dr. O'Brien attended Wofford College where she majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics. It was during her time at Wofford that she discovered her passion for optometry and decided to pursue a career in it. She graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 2021.

Dr. O'Brien then moved back to South Carolina so that she could serve the people in her home state. Dr. O'Brien’s professional interests include ocular disease, pediatrics, and contact lenses. In her spare time, she loves traveling (her goal is to visit all 50 states!), and spending time with family and friends.

Please give her a warm welcome, and book your appointment with Dr. O'Brien today! 💚👓

City life keeps you moving with long days at the office, after-work drinks, weekend farmers' markets, outdoor concerts, and commutes that seem to get longer every year. If you wear contacts through all of it, your eyes are working just as hard as you are.

Contact lens wearers are significantly more likely to experience dry eye symptoms. But here's what most people don't realize: dry eye is a medical condition, not just a nuisance.

The good news is that dry eye in contact lens wearers is one of the most treatable things we see in our practice. From daily disposable lenses designed specifically for dry eye, to prescription eye drops, to simple in-office treatments - there are real solutions that can make a genuine difference in how your eyes feel from morning to end of day. Come see us and let's figure out what's going on with your eyes. 👁️

✨ Friday Fun Fact! ✨

When you look up at the night sky, you're actually looking back in time. 🌟👀

The light from the Sun takes about 8 minutes to reach Earth, which means you're seeing the Sun as it was 8 minutes ago. And the light from some stars visible to the naked eye has traveled hundreds or even thousands of years before reaching your eyes.

🌌 The next time you gaze at the stars, remember: your eyes are helping you experience a piece of the universe's history.

City life means UV and glare coming at you from every direction, and polarized lenses are the upgrade your eyes didn't know they needed.

Here's the science: polarized lenses filter out horizontal light waves - the kind that bounce off flat surfaces like pavement, car hoods, and windows - dramatically reducing glare without darkening your entire field of vision.

Less squinting. More living. 🕶️ Ask us about polarized options this summer.
