Sometimes mamas naturally get on their back because that’s what their body is telling them to do, and there is NOTHING wrong with that! But refusing to “allow” her to push in other positions removes patient autonomy. Research supports upright and side lying position that allow the sacrum to open. This can help reduce pushing time and the risk of tearing! 🩷

When you get to work and find a gift from one of your patients waiting for you 🥰🥹🩷 This sweet patient of mine worked SO hard to bring her baby into the world. I hardly left her room the entire night as we worked through lots of anxieties and fears. Simply having the honor of being her nurse was more than enough, but the fact that she came all the way back to the hospital just to bring me this brought me to tears! Such a sweet and thoughtful gesture that made my night! I’m so lucky to do what I do 🩷🩷

Today marks my official TEN YEARS as a Birth & Postpartum Doula, and Placenta Encapsulation Specialist. It’s insane to me that I’ve already dedicated an entire decade to this incredible work.

I still get butterflies when I’m on the way to a birth. I still cry with my clients when they hold their babies for the first time. I’m in tears writing this post just thinking about what an incredible honor it is to be invited into such a sacred and vulnerable space. Thank you to every single family that has trusted me to walk with them during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. I do not take that honor lightly.

Thank you fiercely to everyone who has stood by my side, cheered me on as I grew my business, offered a listening ear when I needed to decompress after a difficult birth, and had faith in me when doulas weren’t popular yet. This work has absolutely changed the course of my life for the better. 🥹❤️

I am so BEYOND excited to announce the relaunch of my doula training business, The Doula College! If you’ve known me for any length of time, you know that doula work is a huge passion of mine and I LOVE offering guidance and mentorship to new and aspiring doula’s.

When I trained as a doula 10 years ago, there weren’t a ton of resources available to get my business off the ground, especially locally. I believe everyone deserves support and a safe space to ask questions when trying to navigate the birth worker world.

The Doula College is an advocacy and research based doula training organization. I take pride in cultivating a non-judgmental and welcoming space to learn about all things birth related!
