Hi friends! I’m Kelli and it’s so nice to meet you! I am managing the social media for and wanted to introduce myself!

I am so happy to be here as pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum support is so important to me!

I have been a photographer for 14 years, you can find my IG at 🥰 I photograph weddings, family lifestyle and branding images primarily! It truly is something I adore and I’m so grateful to get to do it.

I am also a mother to my almost 4 year old daughter, Emery and to my 10 year old Great Dane, Bo! I’ve been married to my husband Tyler for 9 years and we made roots in Lexington at the end of 2022!

Here are 5 fun facts about me:

1) I love to read! I’ve read 34 books this year (more if you include children’s book 🤣) and so glad I’ve made more time for reading!

2) I’m working on publishing a children’s book! I’ve written since I was very young and can’t wait to finally publish a book!

3) I’ve been gluten free for 15 years! So grateful it’s easier to find GF food alternatives now even though I eat mostly naturally gluten free foods!

4) I’m a huge fan of musical theatre! I grew up performing is shows from the age of 8!

5) I’m naturally an introverted person, even though my job has helped me more extroverted over the years!

I would love to learn about you! Comment a fun fact about yourself below đź’™

In this day and age, there is a plethora of information on any topic available at our fingertips thanks to the internet. Despite all of this information we can have access too, it still doesn’t fully prepare us for everything that pregnancy and childbirth entails.

So, what do you wish you knew about pregnancy or childbirth before you experienced it?

Should you take your baby to a chiropractor?

Let’s talk about chiropractic care! There are a lot of opinions on chiropractic adjustments, especially for pediatric patients.

Did you know that introducing a child to chiropractic care from a young age can help pave the way for a lifetime of good health?

Pediatric Chiropractic care is a speciality that focuses on treating infants, toddlers, children and teens to help align their spine and balance their nervous system. Pediatric chiropractors undergo specialized training to ensure that the care they provide is appropriate for the child’s age and body type.

Taking your children to the chiropractor can:
• Support growth milestones
• Enhance immune health
• Aid in digestion
• Reduce ear infections
• Help with allergies
• Improve sleep
• and MUCH more

For now, let’s focus on infant chiropractor care. Among other benefits, it has been found to relieve and soothe colicky babies. There was a study that spanned 3 months finding 94% of subjects experienced improved colic symptoms after receiving regular chiropractic care.

Subluxation misalignment in infants is a common reason for colic. When your infant’s nervous system becomes imbalanced, other areas of their little body start to work improperly, which can lead to digestive and other issues.

Chiropractic care for infants can also:

• Reduce fussiness
• Promote better sleep
• Help build their immunity
• Support neurological development
• Aid in pre and post treatment of lip and tongue ties
• and more!!

Have you taken your baby to a chiropractor? Tell us about your experience in the comments! I’ll share ours there as well!

I have heard many times from parents that their doctor told them the tie would stretch or resolve itself and that’s completely false. If it could stretch it wouldn’t be a tie. It would be a normal frenum. As for resolving itself, well not exactly. It’s true that in some cases babies learn to compensate or can alleviate symptoms with therapy and/or body work. But the tie itself doesn’t just resolve. If your tongue is tethered to your mandible it is impossible to have proper oral function. The question is, when and how will it be impactful. There are certainly folks who go their entire lives with very limited range of motion in their tongue and have no symptoms that they have connected to it. In other cases, a person’s symptoms can be so great and doesn’t improve much with therapy so it must be addressed.

I’m not the type of support provider who believes or recommends all ties be treated. What I do recommend is that if you and/or your baby are having ANY issues with feeding or things listed below, you seek an evaluation with a tie savvy IBCLC! Like me! Your pediatrician, while excellent at many many things, is very likely not trained in breastfeeding, oral function or oral restriction. Just like they refer to other specialities such as cardiology, GI, ENT, etc, they should be referring to lactation (or SLP/OT if baby is not breastfeeding) for all things infant (or child) feeding.

Here are just some possible symptoms:

• Latching issues
• Pain or tissue damage of the ni**le
• Not being able to empty the breast of milk
• Prolonged breastfeeding sessions
• Baby not being satisfied when nursing
• Ni**le compression
• Low or slow weight gain for baby
• reccurent breast issues like thrush, clogged ducts or mastitis
• frequent spit up or excessive gas in infant
• constipation of infant
• irritability
• Torticollis or cranial moulding
• sleep concerns
• speech concerns
• picky eating
• snoring or sleep apnea
• gagging or choking
• consistent open mouth posture or drooling

We will be talking about tongue tie solutions in the coming days, but if you think your baby may have a tongue tie, feel free to DM us for suggestions on next steps!

Yesterday we talked about 3 different positions in which you can nurse your baby! Today we are going to go over the fourth and fifth position that is popular for nursing.

4. The Football hold: This is also known as the clutch hold and is great if you are recovering from a C-Section. You will hold baby beside you with your elbow bent. With your open hand, you will support your baby’s head with palm of your hand. Baby’s back will rest on your forearm, which should be level with your ni**le. Putting a pillow under your baby and arm helps! This position is usually best with newborns. Once baby begins to grow it becomes much harder to support this way.

5. Laid Back Position: This position is good for babies who need help managing a heavy flow or let down. You will be sitting up, reclined slightly, with good support for your back. Baby will lie somewhat vertically on your stomach. You can use a free hand to support baby as they nurse. This is great for skin to skin contact.

Out of the five ways to breastfeed we have discussed, do you have a favorite nursing position?
