🎬🍿 It was movie night at Highgrove!

Our Memory Care residents recently gathered to enjoy a relaxing movie night together, and all the fun that comes with watching a favorite film.

Movie nights can be especially meaningful for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Familiar movies, music, and characters can spark happy memories and create a calming, shared experience with friends.

🍉😋 Happy National Watermelon Day!

Our residents celebrated this sweet summer holiday by creating watermelon pizzas topped with fresh whipped cream, shredded coconut, and colorful berries. They looked almost too good to eat—but only almost! 🍓🥥

Did you know? Watermelons are believed to have originated in northeastern Africa thousands of years ago and have been enjoyed around the world ever since. National Watermelon Day, celebrated each year on August 3, is the perfect excuse to enjoy one of summer's most refreshing fruits!

🍽️ Nothing brings people together quite like a great meal!

Our residents recently enjoyed a delicious outing to Bella Café & Grille, where good food and great company made for a wonderful outing. One of the most popular choices? Their famous Buttermilk Chicken, which was a big hit around the table!

Sharing meals out in the community is a wonderful way to enjoy new experiences, catch up with friends, and support local favorites. We always look forward to these outings—and judging by the smiles, this one was a definite success!

We can't wait to see where our next adventure takes us! 🍗

✝️🐚 Creativity was shining in our latest Craft Corner activity!

Residents recently created beautiful summer shell cross hangers, combining colorful seashells, a little teamwork, and plenty of imagination. With the help of a glue gun and lots of creativity, each cross became a piece of art that will add a special touch to our community.

Crafting is a wonderful way to express creativity, enjoy time with friends, and create something meaningful to display and enjoy.

We love seeing the talents of our residents on display—these shell crosses turned out absolutely beautiful!

🚒❤️ Safety starts with knowledge!

Our community recently welcomed representatives from the Lexington Fire Department for an informative Lunch & Learn focused on emergency preparedness. Residents and guests enjoyed learning about evacuation plans, fire prevention tips, and practical ways to stay safe at home.

The presentation also provided a great opportunity to ask questions, gain valuable safety information, and connect with the community. We appreciate the time they took to share their expertise and help empower our residents with knowledge that can make a difference.

A big thank you to the Lexington Fire Department for spending the afternoon with us and helping keep our community informed and prepared!

🇺🇸 Family Night was extra special at Highgrove this month as we celebrated America's 250th Birthday with a festive red, white, and blue gathering!

Residents, families, and team members came together for an evening filled with great food (it's Culinary Arts Month!) and even better company. Guests enjoyed a delicious carving station, built their own loaded potatoes at our potato bar, and topped off the celebration with sweet treats.

Events like Family Night are a wonderful opportunity to bring loved ones together, share a meal, and celebrate the strong sense of community that makes Highgrove feel like home.

This week's Zumba class with Libby Cortes brought energy, encouragement, and plenty of smiles to our Parkinson's Support Group at Highgrove Senior Living. From music and movement to laughter and friendship, every step was a celebration of staying active together.

We're grateful to Libby for leading such an uplifting class and helping our participants build strength, confidence, and community.
