Your body was made to move and your brain loves it, too.

Regular physical activity does more than strengthen muscles and improve endurance. Movement increases blood flow to the brain, supports learning and memory, boosts mood, and helps reduce stress and anxiety. Even a short walk can leave you feeling more focused, energized, and mentally refreshed.

The best part? You don’t need an intense workout to experience the benefits. Dancing in the kitchen, taking the stairs, walking the dog, or playing outside all count. Every step is an investment in both your physical and mental well-being.

A healthier mind starts with a moving body. 💪🧠

Your brain is made up of several key regions, each responsible for different functions that keep your body and mind working together. From movement and memory to vision and decision-making, every part plays a critical role. 🧠

Understanding the brain starts with understanding its structure.

Your brain is constantly working, and it needs fuel to do it. While it makes up only about 2% of your body, it uses nearly 20% of your oxygen supply. Research shows the brain has a highly responsive system that can quickly increase oxygen delivery when neurons become more active. The human body is remarkably engineered. 🧠💨

The spinal cord is one of the body’s most important communication pathways. 🧠⚡

Protected by the vertebrae of the spine, the spinal cord carries signals between the brain and the rest of the body, helping control movement, sensation, reflexes, and automatic functions like breathing and heart rate. It contains millions of nerve fibers that work together to rapidly transmit information throughout the nervous system.

Because the spinal cord plays such a critical role in everyday function, protecting spinal health and addressing neurological symptoms early is important.

Brain tumors can be either benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous), and symptoms often depend on the tumor’s size, type, and location in the brain.

Meningiomas are the most common primary benign brain tumors and typically grow slowly from the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Glioblastoma, on the other hand, is the most common primary malignant brain tumor in adults and is known for its aggressive growth.

Common symptoms of brain tumors may include:
• Persistent headaches
• Seizures
• Vision or speech changes
• Balance problems
• Memory or personality changes
• Weakness or numbness

While not every headache or neurological symptom points to a brain tumor, ongoing or unexplained symptoms should never be ignored. Early evaluation and diagnosis are important for the best possible outcomes. 🧠

Social connection does more than lift your mood. It also plays an important role in brain health. 🧠

Research shows that meaningful social interaction can help stimulate memory, attention, and emotional processing while also reducing stress and feelings of isolation. Conversations, laughter, shared experiences, and strong relationships all help keep the brain engaged and active over time.

In fact, studies have linked regular socialization to better cognitive function and a lower risk of cognitive decline as we age. Maintaining friendships, staying involved in your community, and spending quality time with others are all ways to support long-term brain health.

Your brain was designed for connection. 🤝

Technology has changed the way we work, communicate, and learn, but constant screen time can also impact the brain in ways many people don’t realize. Studies have linked excessive technology use to increased stress, reduced attention span, disrupted sleep, and mental fatigue. Blue light exposure can interfere with melatonin production, making quality sleep more difficult, while nonstop notifications and multitasking may overload the brain’s ability to focus.

The good news? Small changes can help support brain health:
• Taking regular screen breaks
• Limiting device use before bed
• Prioritizing face-to-face interaction
• Spending time outdoors
• Allowing the brain time to rest without constant stimulation

Your brain processes everything you do each day. Giving it time to recharge matters. 🧠

Strokes are largely preventable, but many people don’t realize the risk.

High blood pressure is the leading cause, and lifestyle factors like diet, activity level, and smoking all play a significant role. In fact, up to 80% of strokes may be preventable with the right changes.

Understanding your risk factors and managing them early can make all the difference in protecting long-term brain health.

May is National Stroke Awareness Month.

Recognizing the signs of a stroke can save a life. Remember B.E. F.A.S.T.:
Balance – sudden loss of coordination
Eyes – vision changes
Face – drooping on one side
Arms – weakness or numbness
Speech – difficulty speaking
Time – call 911 immediately

Acting quickly can make all the difference in recovery.
