During the month of October, we recognize Dyslexia Awareness Month. This month is a time to educate others, advocate for and celebrate those with dyslexia. Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability that causes difficulty with fluent word recognition, spelling, and decoding abilities. People with dyslexia may also face challenges with spoken language. Ensuring your child receives a proper diagnosis, specific reading instruction, and support from their family members and teachers is the best way to help them find success.

Here at Northland Speech and Language, we offer reading intervention using an Orton-Gillingham approach. If you are interested in getting your child tested for dyslexia, please contact Northland Speech and Language at (816) 797-9690 or email [email protected] to schedule an evaluation.
