3 Reasons Seeing a Therapist is Different Than Talking to a Friend

1. Therapists are trained to help you grow using evidence-based tools to help you understand patterns, regulate emotions, and make meaningful changes. Friends care deeply, but they typically do not have the training to help you through complex mental health challenges.

2. The focus is entirely on YOU. Friendships are mutual-both people share, vent, and support each other. In therapy, the space is dedicated to your needs, your goals, and your healing. You don't have to worry about being a burden or taking too much time.

3. Therapy offers structure, boundaries, and confidentiality. This structure allows you to be more open and honest than you might feel comfortable being with friends.
