Clementine is a space in downtown Libertyville offering Montessori parent-child classes for children ages 0-3. Parent (or other caregiver--grandparent, nanny) and child attend together. The children work & play in a prepared Montessori environment, and the adults observe, chat with each other, learn and talk about various parenting topics, and join their kids with the materials.

We finished our summer infant class with some deep chats:

> I’m consistently amazed at the thoughtful reflection that comes out of our classes, and today was the cherry on top. I feel like I was in a haze for a good long time when my babies were young, but then again as I always say—my own wish for this kind of space, where I could talk through my experiences with people who really get it, is where Clementine came from!

> The babies had their own little wavelength going on: looking at and for each other, all the sounds, just delightful.

It’s always bittersweet when this group wraps up, but fall crawler awaits, and I’ll get to meet the newest 🍊 babies then as well!

> Join us at the Libertyville Farmer’s Market in Cook Park…all the fruit, veggies, flowers, & treats, plus puppies & kittens to visit, outdoor storytime at 10:00a, and playground time. After worrying that I’d have to cancel for rain that didn’t materialize, I think I counted 12 families at yesterday’s spray park meetup. It was a great mix of some who already knew each other and others meeting for the first time and the time flew by. A dad brought cucumbers from his garden to share.

As I got splashed, I just thought to myself: this is the best.

Not pictured, but a highlight of our wonderful multi-age class was a newly-one-year-old, also new to the classroom, who noticed us moving the furniture for snack, headed right for the other table, and starting pushing it over.

Also loved a wonderful baby-back-and-forth moment and having both a brand-new big sister and a grandma from Argentina with us today!

Classes are full for the week, but there’s room for everyone to join us tomorrow at the (kid-powered!) spray park!

There’s a great playground, a grassy area, and a picnic shelter too, plus plenty of friends to play with.

I look forward to this afternoon every summer!
