A new study published in ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น is raising important questions about the connection between chronic stress, the gut microbiome, immune response, and the tumor environment.
Researchers found that chronic stress may disrupt the gut microbiome and trigger a biological chain reaction involving stress hormones, gut bacteria, bacteriophages, cancer-associated fibroblasts, and B cells which are immune cells that play an important role in anti-tumor immunity.
In preclinical models, chronic stress appeared to weaken the immune systemโs ability to respond to tumors by changing the environment around the tumor itself.
