Welcome, Welcome! August has brought two new professors to the Campbell University Department of Physical Therapy.

Robert Precht, PT, DPT, who has been a Physical Therapist for twelve years, working as an acute care PT with Duke Health System for the past five and half years (most recently at Duke Raleigh Hospital). Dr. Precht is a familiar face in Smith Hall serving as an Adjunct Professor with CU DPT since 2025. When asked what inspired him to become a professor, Dr. Precht says “I feel that I can offer unique insights on PT practice that may help broaden students’ perspectives on the role and breadth of PT practice. I hope to create an environment that adapts to students’ (and ultimately patients’) learning styles.”

This fall Dr. Precht will be teaching in two courses: Settings and Environments of Care and PT Applications (in the cardiopulmonary and adult neuro Community Wellness Clinics).

Kimberly Klug, PT, DSc who has been a Physical Therapist for thirty-five years. Dr. Klug, who specializes in pediatrics, comes to CU DPT with years of experience in the classroom and in clinical practice and will serve as the Co-Director of Clinical Education in addition to teaching. Dr. Klug says “I am excited to transition into the Co-DCE role. This position allows me to grow while still having the opportunity to continue teaching. The past few years interacting with students during all three years of a DPT curriculum have solidified for me the importance of clinical education for student success. Clinical experiences are a time to integrate skills, learn new ones, and really understand the WHY of physical therapy. I look forward to supporting this process for the Campbell PT students as they prepare to become the next generation of the profession.”

This fall, Dr. Klug will be assisting in Settings and Environments of Care as well as PT Applications (in the Pediatric Community Wellness Clinic).

We are so excited for these new additions to our CU DPT Community!

One week left to be a part of our Note in the Coat initiative! Our sponsors last year submitted some wonderful words of encouragement for our newest PT students. Don't let creating your message get in the way of participating! Here are a few that were submitted from alumi, parents, faculty/staff and community members. Feel free to duplicate their words, or craft your own.

Submission and sponsorship deadline is Wednesday, August 19th.

We love when lab time involves hands on learning! Dr. Baker helped us solidify our understanding of the blood supply to the brain by having us recreate both the brain regions and the arterial system (known as the Circle of Willis) using colorful art supplies.

The participants in our Peds Community Wellness course taught us important lessons about creativity, endurance, patience, and the importance of always having a back up plan! We celebrated small and big milestones and victories with them as they worked diligently towards improving their function, speed, and strength. Can’t wait to welcome them back in a few short weeks.
