Every community has team members who bring a little extra heart to their work, and our Employee of the Month, Tora, is one of those special people. As the first friendly face many see when they walk through our doors, she embodies the teamwork, compassion, and dedication that make Kessler Estates feel like home.
As a child, Tora dreamed of being a cowgirl, and while her career path took a different direction, that adventurous spirit is still very much a part of who she is today. If given the chance, she would love to travel the original Silk Road, exploring as many places as possible and soaking up knowledge and experiences along the way.
Tora's passion for senior living began long before her career. Growing up, she would stay home from school to help care for her grandfather, and later assisted with the care of her grandmother and great uncle. Those experiences created a deep connection to caregiving and continue to inspire the compassion she shows our residents every day. She often says that caring for our residents helps her feel close to those family members she loved so dearly.
When asked what she enjoys most about our company culture, her answer was simple: teamwork. "We're all in this together." That outlook is reflected in how she supports her coworkers and residents alike.
One of the most meaningful pieces of advice Tora has received is, "People are fickle." To her, the saying is a reminder that every day is a new beginning and that everyone deserves grace because we all have challenging days. It's a perspective that helps her approach others with patience, understanding, and kindness.
Outside of work, Tora enjoys playing video games, making jewelry, and, as she jokingly puts it, "annoying my family." If money were no object, she would spend her days homesteading and writing novels. A writer since the fifth grade, she dreams of one day becoming a successful author while reconnecting with the lifestyle she loved growing up on the family farm.
If Tora ever won the lottery, her first purchase would be practical: paying off her mortgage. And if she were helping raise money for a favorite charity, you'd find her booth filled with fresh baked goods, handmade jewelry, and maybe even a few crocheted creations.
