Sclerotherapy: what’s actually happening beneath the skin?

Sclerotherapy is one of the most common treatments for spider veins—and there’s a little more to it than simply making veins disappear.

At Vein Care Center, we use Sotradecol® (sodium tetradecyl sulfate) as our sclerosing agent. When injected into the targeted vein, it irritates the vein wall and causes the vein to close. Your body then gradually breaks down the treated vein while blood is redirected through healthier veins.
