As many in our community have recently heard, a local business in Newport was shut down following an investigation into alleged illegal activity and unlicensed massage services.

At Rejuvenation, we feel it’s important to gently educate our community about the difference between legitimate, licensed massage therapy and businesses operating outside Oregon law.

In Oregon, Licensed Massage Therapists are required to complete extensive education, pass state licensing requirements, follow professional ethics, and maintain continuing education standards to safely care for clients.

It’s also important to recognize that in many cases across the country, individuals working in illicit massage businesses may themselves be victims of exploitation or human trafficking. These situations are often far more complex than they appear on the surface and deserve compassion, awareness, and community education.
