For an athlete with quadriplegia, holding a pickleball paddle can look a little different. 🏓

Over the past 6 weeks, our fieldwork students have been adapting this paddle to help maximize comfort, efficiency, and performance. Adding physical supports to the handle, adjusting wrist and forearm straps, and sewing velcro onto sleeves have all been part of the process—collaborating with the athlete every step of the way. 🪡🛠️🧵

Watch along to see the paddle progress over time, and stay tuned as this prototype continues to improve over the summer! ✂️☀️

💙 Help Us Understand How People Get Active After Disability

Our friends at Kelly Brush Foundation are conducting a Readiness Study to better understand what helps people with disabilities become active and what barriers can make getting started more difficult.

By participating, you can help identify the resources, support systems, and connections that make the biggest difference when someone is ready to get moving.

📊 Why does this matter?
The more we understand, the better we can help bridge the gap between medical care and community-based adaptive recreation, connecting people with sports, recreation, peer support, and community resources when they need them most.

Who can participate?
Individuals with an acquired physical disability or mobility impairment, including disabilities resulting from:
• Accident or injury
• Surgery
• Amputation
• Stroke
• Acute-onset illness

Your experience can help shape the future of adaptive recreation. 💙

✈️ You never know who you're going to inspire.

One of our talented volunteers, Richard made his annual flyover over the lake, delighting everyone below. The surprise was such a hit that some of the bystanders felt inspired to make a donation to NEDS! ✨

Thank you, Richard, for sharing your talents and reminding us that inspiration can come from the most unexpected moments. 💙

✨ to the earlier days of NEDS!

It's fun to look back at where we started and celebrate how far we've come. While the equipment, gear, and fashions may have changed over the years, our mission has remained the same. 🙌

Here's to the memories that built our community and the many more still to come.

👍 Halfway there!

A quick stop for a thumbs up, some smiles, and a well-earned break before turning around and heading back. Every ride is about more than reaching a destination—it's about building confidence, enjoying the journey, and celebrating each milestone along the way. 🚴

We ride every Thursday—who's joining us? We'd love to have you along!
