Health Care Like Crazy Award and Outstanding APP Award was given to our very own, Dr. Abby Soterin and Sharon Lee, APRN! What a dream team! Read all about their recognition stories below!
Dr. Soterin recently cared for a critically ill patient in our CVICU who required a specialized procedure that we were unable to provide at our facility. What could have easily ended as a simple “no available options” situation became an example of extraordinary dedication because of her persistence and compassion. She spent numerous hours personally calling multiple hospitals to find an accepting facility. When transportation challenges and concerns about the patient’s wife being able to travel added additional stress, Dr. Soterin continued to advocate tirelessly for this patient and his family. Through her determination, she ultimately secured an accepting facility in Omaha, which was the patient’s preferred location. Her efforts went far beyond what was required and made an incredibly stressful situation more manageable for both the patient and his family. Dr. Soterin consistently demonstrates what it truly means to “care like crazy.” Her advocacy, perseverance and compassion embody the very spirit of this award, and she is deeply deserving of this recognition.
