We've shared recently about what doulas do 👍🏼, so here's 3 things that birth doulas do NOT do! 🙅🏻‍♀️

1. Nothing medical. No medical recommendations, no clinical tasks, no BP or temperatures from us!

2. No decision making for you. You're in charge, and your doula's job is to support your agency in decision-making, offer information, and help you implement your plan.

3. No replacing your partner. Your partner knows you; your birth doula knows childbirth. Together with your midwifery/medical team and other support people, that's a great team behind you and your baby!

Postpartum support can make a big difference in your newborn and postpartum transition. Postpartum doulas support your postpartum recovery and facilitate integration of your newborn(s) into your family. This might look like light food preparation and housework, holding the baby so you can nap and shower, or helping you set realistic expectations for your day-to-day so your anxiety is alleviated.
