We’re so excited to have our Nursing Supervisor team, Glori and Corie, back from an incredible week of training in St. Louis! They spent the week learning the Cedarhurst way of nursing and preparing to provide exceptional care as we look forward to welcoming our very first residents to their new homes in just two short weeks. 🏡💚

Over the next couple of weeks, they’ll be meeting with our future residents to complete nursing assessments, determine individualized levels of care, and develop personalized care plans tailored to each resident’s individual needs. They’ll also be training our wonderful new direct care team to ensure everyone is ready to provide the compassionate, person-centered care Cedarhurst is known for from day one.

Come get a taste of what life at Cedarhurst of Lincoln is all about! Join us for our Taste of Cedarhurst Open House, where you’ll enjoy delicious samples from our in-house crafted menu, take a guided tour of our beautiful new Assisted Living and Memory Care community, and meet our amazing team.

MEET THE TEAM! 💚

Meet Jay Casteel, our Maintenance Director! With 7 years of maintenance experience and 39 years as a licensed arborist and owner of Casteel Tree Service, Jay brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication, and a hands-on approach to our Cedarhurst family. He joined Cedarhurst because of his passion for new construction and the excitement of watching a brand-new community come to life.
Jay’s favorite part of working in senior living is getting to know our residents, hearing their stories, and learning about the many experiences that have shaped their lives.

As a member of Cedarhurst of Lincoln’s founding team, Jay looks forward to ensuring our residents feel comfortable, safe, and cared for by meeting their maintenance needs with a friendly face and a smile. Jay wants our residents and families to know he is approachable, always happy to help, and can’t wait to meet everyone!

We are thrilled to announce that our leadership team is officially moving into their offices this week! It has been incredible watching Cedarhurst come to life, and we’re excited to take this next step.

Even more exciting, we have officially been approved to begin offering guided tours for future residents, families, and anyone interested in learning more about Cedarhurst!

As we continue putting the finishing touches on our community, please note that we are not yet open for self-guided tours or walk-in visits. 🦺 To ensure the safety of our team, construction team, and visitors, all tours are by appointment only and will follow a modified route while construction is completed.

Before we know it, August 17th will be here, and we’ll have the privilege of welcoming our very first residents as they move in! 🏡

MEET THE TEAM! 💚

Corie Gorton, our Assistant Director of Nursing! With over 20 years of healthcare experience, Corie brings compassion, leadership, and a passion for creating a positive impact for both residents and team members. She joined recently joined Cedarhurst because of the opportunity to help build a new community from the ground up while making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Outside of work, Corie and her husband, Kirk, have been married for 26 years and have two sons, Jake and Ty. They enjoy life on their acreage outside of Syracuse, spending time outdoors, gardening, and making memories with family and friends.

Corie’s favorite part of senior living is supporting nurses and caregivers, helping them succeed, and creating a culture where compassionate, high-quality care is the standard. As a member of Cedarhurst of Lincoln’s founding team, she looks forward to building relationships with residents and families while helping our community thrive.

Corie wants residents and families to know their loved ones will be cared for with the same compassion, dignity, and respect that she would want for her own family. 💚

In June, our Life Enrichment Director, Emily, traveled to St. Louis for Cedarhurst’s three-day Life Enrichment Directors Retreat. During the retreat, she had the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn alongside Life Enrichment Directors from across several states, including local communities, Cedarhurst of La Vista and Cedarcreek of High Plains.

One of Emily’s favorite parts of the retreat was playing glow-in-the-dark bingo and winning some fun prizes! 🎉 Emily returned with fresh ideas and inspiration to make activities even more engaging and meaningful for our residents. She especially enjoyed learning new ways to encourage participation, get everyone involved, and create an even more vibrant, enriched living environment for everyone in our community.

We’re so thankful for Emily’s creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication to enriching the lives of our residents every day. We can’t wait to see all the exciting ideas she brings back to Cedarhurst! 💚

MEET THE TEAM! 💚

Meet Dylan VanDeWalker, our Dining Service Director! With 30 years of experience in the food service industry, including 20 years in restaurant leadership and 10 years in senior living dining, Dylan brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to our Cedarhurst family. Throughout his career, he has held many leadership roles and has helped open three brand-new restaurants.

Dylan was drawn to Cedarhurst because of the genuine relationships built with residents and the commitment to providing a respectful, supportive environment. He is especially excited about the restaurant-style dining experience and the incredible options offered through our Crafted by Cedarhurst menu.

Outside of work, Dylan and his wife, Karen, are passionate UNL sports fans. They also have a Chihuahua mix named Herbie, named after Herbie Husker! Dylan’s favorite part of senior living is combining his passion for helping others with his love for creating exceptional food and dining experiences. He looks forward to getting to know each resident personally and ensuring their dining experience exceeds expectations.

As a member of Cedarhurst of Lincoln’s founding team, Dylan is excited to lead the Dining Service Team, build a strong foundation, and create a standard of outstanding food and service for our residents. Today we celebrate World Chocolate Day by handing out boxes of our favorite Baker's Candies to some of our friends in the community!

We are big fans of Baker’s chocolate here at Cedarhurst! Whether we’re putting together gifts for our referral partners, adding a special touch to bingo and trivia prizes, welcoming guests at events, or enjoying a treat in the leasing office while we eagerly count down to our August 17 opening, Baker’s Candies are never far away.

💛Gold- Milk Chocolate Mint
💚Green- Dark Chocolate Mint
