SPORTS PHYSICALS!!!!⚽🏀🏉⚾🏌

We were hoping for a little better turn out for our Saturday Sports Physicals. We were trying to take some of the pressure off of the early August panic when kids need their PE forms usually yesterday.

We only have a couple of kids signed up so far. We understand that end of school year is a busy time so this shouldn't be a complete shocker.

If we do not get a little better turn out by Wednesday, we will cancel the event and reschedule the individuals at a mutually convenient time. My staff has volunteered their time on a Saturday, but I am sure they wouldn't mind some more time at home with their families. 🌞

🌿 Tick season is here in Michigan! 🌿

We are getting inundated with calls and visits about tick bites as they are out if full force. Here are a couple of helpful links and some information from the health dept that can help you decide whether a phone call or visit is needed.

As families spend more time outdoors, remember to protect your kids from tick bites and Lyme disease:

✔️ Use insect repellent with DEET or picaridin
✔️ Wear light-colored clothing and long sleeves when possible
✔️ Check kids carefully after outdoor play — especially scalp, behind ears, armpits, waistline, and behind knees
✔️ Shower after coming indoors
✔️ Remove ticks promptly with fine-tipped tweezers

Watch for symptoms after a tick bite, including fever, fatigue, rash, headaches, or joint pain.

Prevention and early detection are key to staying healthy this summer! ☀️

🧩 Puzzles – everyone loves them, right?

We hope so… because getting to Positively Pediatrics is about to feel like solving one!

Starting this week, a major road construction project 🚧 will affect travel in and out of Linden. Some routes will stay the same, but others—especially from the east—will require detours.

Here’s what you need to know:

👉 Coming from the North or South (Linden / Bridge St):
No major changes! You may see minor bridge work, but traffic flow remains the same.

👉 Coming from the West (Silver Lake Rd):
No changes 👍

👉 Coming from the East (Fenton, Holly, via Silver Lake Rd):
This is where things get interesting!

You’ll be detoured:
➡️ Silver Lake Rd → Ripley Rd
➡️ Tickner St into town
➡️ Main St → past Broad St
➡️ Right on Hickory
➡️ Right on Linden / Bridge St
➡️ Then back over Broad St to our parking lot

The good news? Leaving the office is a bit easier—Bridge St becomes a one-way back to Silver Lake Rd.

🚦 There will be signs along the way to guide you, and it’s likely simpler than it sounds!

⏰ Please plan ahead and allow a little extra time so you can arrive for your appointments stress-free.

What a fun month it’s been at Positively Pediatrics! Our March Balance Madness tournament has officially come to an end, and we want to thank all of our amazing families who played along. We will be crediting just under $250 total to several families in this promotion. Confirmatory portal message will be sent and credits will be applied later this week. Congratulations to all of the winners!

Here’s the recap:
🥇 Champion team – 50% refund of the amount you paid!
🥈 Runner-up team – 25% refund
🏅 Final Four teams – 10% refund
🎉 Extra thank-you – Ten families who paid but didn’t make the final 68 received a 5% courtesy credit!
💌 And for those who joined the fun without a balance, $25 account credit winners will be notified soon.

We loved seeing so many families participate, and we hope everyone enjoyed the little March Madness twist on account resolution!

Let the Games begin!!!

Thank you to everyone who entered our March Balance Madness promotion either through bill pay or the free entries in the office. We had over 68 entries so we will have a drawing after March Madness for the people that were not randomly assigned a team. I was up late last night sending portals to families notifying them of their team so check your account!

Due to HIPAA, Positively Pediatrics will not be posting the bracket but we will be posting updates as the tournament continues to its conclusion April 6th. Please follow your team and cheer them on!!!

Using your IRS refund to pay bills is not as fun as a vacation, a purse, or golf clubs. But do those things give you a chance to win your money back?

Use that refund to get back in the black at Pos Peds and get a chance to win some of it back. This Friday is the last chance to pay off your balance and be entered into our March Balance Madness Promotion where you can win some of your paid balance back if your team goes to the Final 4 and even more if they win it all.

Team selections will be made this weekends and you will be notified of your team on Monday!

Make sure if you have paid off a balance that you have let us know (by phone or portal) so that we do not miss anyone.

The kids know what they are talking about! The Positively Pediatrics March Balance Madness Promotion ( see website or our 2/9 FB-IG post) has less than 2 weeks to pay your balance in full to get into the promo.

And then the real fun begins! NCAA team selections are on Sunday 3/15. We will notify you of your team through the patient portal on Monday 3/16 - it may be in the evening; it is Dr. Purman's late night and this is his baby!

Next, you can follow your team through the tournament while cheering them on to victory and a possible refund for you!
