When your day is still running through your mind, try giving it 15 minutes to slow down.

About an hour before bed: or whenever your schedule allows: try this simple wind-down ritual:

1. Put your phone in another room.
2. Dim the lights.
3. Spend 15 minutes doing one calming thing:
• Gentle stretching or slow breathing
• Writing down one win and one worry
• Reading something that has nothing to do with work

Then, if it fits your faith, hand the day over. A short evening prayer or a moment of gratitude can quiet the mental list-making and remind you that you don’t have to carry everything into tomorrow.

No perfect routine is required. Just a small, repeatable pause that tells your mind and body: the day is done, and rest is welcome.

Does your mind feel like it’s carrying a little too much today?

Every to-do, worry, reminder, and unfinished thought you keep tucked away can leave your nervous system on alert. You don’t have to solve everything right now: but you can give your mind somewhere to set it down.

Try a 15-minute brain dump:

1. Set a timer for 15 minutes.
2. Write down everything swirling in your head: tasks, worries, ideas, appointments, and even the small details.
3. Circle the one thing that truly needs your attention today.
4. Let the rest wait for now.

This isn’t about getting more done. It’s about creating a little more room to breathe, be present with the people you love, and offer yourself some kindness.

You are not meant to carry every detail alone. Bring it to God, place it on the page, and take the next faithful step.

Sometimes the first step toward feeling steadier is simply putting words to what’s happening inside.

Try this 15-minute practice:

Pause. Name the feeling out loud or write it in a journal: “I feel overwhelmed.” “I feel lonely.” “I feel worried.”

Then notice where it shows up in your body. Is there tightness in your shoulders, heaviness in your chest, or a knot in your stomach?

Finally, offer yourself one compassionate sentence: “This is hard, and I’m allowed to take this one moment at a time.”

Naming an emotion doesn’t make it disappear, but it can reduce its intensity and help your brain begin to regulate. You’re not judging the feeling: you’re acknowledging what’s real.

Even the Psalms give us honest language for grief, fear, anger, and hope. Bringing what is real before God is an act of trust, not weakness.

Take 15 minutes today to name what you feel. Then listen to the 15 Minutes of Sane podcast for more practical encouragement: www.15minutesofsane.net

Whether you’re in Northern Virginia or joining virtually, you don’t have to navigate the journey alone.

The stories we tell ourselves shape everything. 🌄 "I'm not good at relationships." "I always fail when I try something new." "It's too late for me to change." But here's the thing : just because you've told yourself a story for years doesn't mean it's true. Some of the narratives we carry aren't even ours. They were handed down by family, culture, old wounds, or one moment that happened a long time ago. What if you could rewrite the script? Reclaiming your story isn't about pretending the hard parts didn't happen. It's about choosing which parts get to define you. It's about turning "I can't" into "I'm learning." Turning "I'm broken" into "I'm healing." At It's the Journey LLC, we walk alongside you as you uncover the story you actually want to live. Because you are the author of your next chapter. ✍️

Sometimes one spouse brings home a hard day: and the other immediately starts looking for a solution.

That doesn’t always mean they’re dismissive. Temperament can shape how we care: some of us move toward fixing, while others first need space to feel, process, and be understood.

The challenge comes when help arrives before connection.

Try asking: “Do you want me to listen, or do you want my help?”

If they want listening, pause the problem-solving. Reflect what you heard before offering ideas: “That sounds exhausting. I can see why that felt heavy.” Validation isn’t agreeing with every detail or giving up your perspective. It’s letting your spouse know their experience matters to you.

When partners know they’ll be heard first, they often feel safer opening up: and solutions, when needed, can land with much more care.

Different wiring doesn’t have to divide you. It can become a strength when you learn how to meet each other well.

If your marriage is working to find that kind of understanding, compassionate, human-led relationship coaching is available for couples in Northern Virginia, including Linden and the Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as virtually. 🤍

You wouldn’t wait for your engine to smoke before booking a tune-up, so why treat your mental health any differently?

For high-performing professionals, it’s easy to stay in "go-mode" until things start to wobble. But waiting for an "emergency room" moment in your personal life takes a much heavier toll than a proactive check-in.

Think of a "Soul-Check" as regular maintenance. It’s about catching small things before they become big hurdles.

Early warning signs to watch for:
- Feeling snappy with family.
- Struggling to switch off your work brain at night.
- A sense of "is this all there is?" despite your success.

At It’s the Journey LLC, we help leaders in Northern Virginia and the DC metro area navigate these seasons with intention. Through customized coaching, we help you realign before burnout hits.

Whether face-to-face in NoVA or via virtual call, let’s schedule your tune-up. Your future self will thank you.

What if feeling awkward doesn’t mean you’re failing?

Healthy growth often feels unfamiliar before it feels natural. You may question yourself, feel uncertain, or stumble through conversations and decisions that once seemed easier to avoid. That discomfort isn’t always a sign to turn back: it may be evidence that you’re practicing something new.

Give yourself permission to move slowly. Notice what you’re learning. Ask for support. And remember: healthy growth should still include safety, support, and choice.

Through the Unlock Your Potential campaign, It’s the Journey LLC offers compassionate, personalized coaching for Northern Virginia adults who are ready to take their next step: with faith-aware support that welcomes your whole story.

In-person and virtual options are available. You don’t have to navigate the unfamiliar alone.

A calm school-year transition doesn’t happen all at once: it’s built in small steps before the first bell rings.

Try these simple ways to ease back-to-school anxiety for kids and parents:

• Begin shifting bedtime and wake-up times a little earlier each day.
• Practice the morning routine before school starts, including getting dressed, eating breakfast, and leaving on time.
• Offer small choices, like which outfit to wear or what to pack for lunch, to help children feel prepared and capable.
• Protect a little decompression time after school for snacks, connection, movement, or quiet: before homework and activities begin.

You don’t need a perfect plan. A few predictable rhythms and moments of connection can make a meaningful difference.
