At Montessori Learning Center, learning isn’t something that happens only at a desk.

Children learn best when they can create, experiment, test their ideas, and discover for themselves. This catapult project combined creativity, engineering, problem-solving, and hands-on learning as students built their own catapults, personalized them, and put them to the test.

What looks like a simple summer camp activity is actually an opportunity to practice perseverance, critical thinking, and learning through experience.

And let’s be honest… launching them was everyone’s favorite part. 🚀

Before roasting hot dogs over a fire they helped build, our students learned about fire safety, responsibility, and proper fire-building techniques.

At Montessori Learning Center, we believe some of the most valuable lessons come through experience. By giving children opportunities to safely practice real-world skills, we help build confidence, capability, and independence.

🇺🇸 “You’re a Grand Old Flag…” 🇺🇸

As we celebrate Flag Day, we’re reflecting on this special performance from our Lower Elementary students during our End-of-School Program on May 22, 2026, as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

At Montessori Learning Center, we believe that teaching American history helps children better understand the people, events, and ideals that have shaped our nation. By learning about the past, students gain a deeper appreciation for the freedoms, responsibilities, and opportunities they enjoy today.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their beautiful performance and grateful for our dedicated teachers, whose hard work, preparation, and encouragement helped make this moment possible. Their commitment to helping children learn, grow, and confidently share their talents is truly inspiring.

Part 2! Making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich sounds simple… until you have to explain every single step. 😄

Our students were challenged to write instructions for making a PB&J sandwich, and then their teachers followed those directions exactly as written. The results were hilarious, but the learning was real.

Children quickly discover that effective communication requires more than knowing what to do—it requires being able to clearly explain it to someone else. Through this activity, students practice sequencing, logical thinking, problem-solving, perspective-taking, and written communication.

One of the most valuable lessons? We can’t assume others know what we mean. Learning to organize our thoughts and communicate them clearly is a skill that benefits children for a lifetime.

The learning is valuable, but the laughter is unforgettable. This is one of those lessons our students enjoy almost as much as our teachers do.

A bubble lasts only a few seconds, but the skills used to create it can last a lifetime. 🫧Our students designed and built their own bubble wands using pipe cleaners and straws, mixed their own bubble solution, and tested their creations through trial and error.What looks like simple fun is actually a lesson in creativity, engineering, problem-solving, and scientific thinking. Children learn best when they can explore, experiment, and discover for themselves.And let’s be honest—making your very own bubbles is pretty fun, too.
