Yes, I Practice What I Preach. 💪
Since I just celebrated my 52nd birthday, I wanted to be transparent and share a little of my own journey—50 vs. 52.
I’ve worked out my entire life. Prior to 50, most of my focus was cardio—running, high-intensity workouts, and some resistance training here and there. I was active, I exercised consistently, and I thought I knew what worked for my body.
Then 50 happened… and perimenopause slapped me in the face. 😂
My body changed. I gained weight, and suddenly the things I had always done were no longer working. I couldn’t keep doing the same things and expect a different result.
So, I had to change me.
I researched. I learned. I listened to my body and worked with my healthcare provider on hormone replacement therapy to help get my hormones balanced. I also learned that my workouts and nutrition needed to change.
➡️ Less frequent cardio and high-intensity workouts
➡️ More resistance training—specifically heavier strength training
➡️ Prioritizing protein
➡️ Focusing on nourishing my body rather than simply cutting calories
Those changes were transformative.
Over the past two years, I’ve lost weight, significantly improved my body composition, lowered my body fat, and most importantly, built muscle.
And I’m sharing this because I want you to know something:
This did NOT happen overnight.
It took discipline.
It took consistency.
It took patience.
And it took being willing to change when what I had always done stopped working.
There was no quick fix. There still isn’t.
As a physical therapist and fitness professional, I believe in practicing what I preach—and I hope sharing my own journey reminds you that your body can change, too.
Don’t get discouraged because you don’t see results in a few weeks. Stay dialed in. Stay consistent. Trust the process.
Give your body the time, training, nutrition, and patience it needs to change.
Two years later, I’m stronger, healthier, and more confident in my body than I was at 50. ❤️ lipantx gymmotivation gym physicaltherapy
