💙Your Body Deserves Care Between Sessions💙

Life gets busy. Months can pass before you’re able to get back on our table — and that’s okay. Your body still remembers every moment you’ve invested in it, and there are gentle, grounding ways to support yourself at home until your next massage.

👇Here are some simple, soothing techniques your nervous system will love:

1. Breathe to Reset Your Whole System
Slow, intentional breathwork is one of the fastest ways to shift out of stress mode. Try this: Inhale for 4, exhale for 6. Repeat for one minute. Feel your shoulders soften.

2. Lacrosse Ball Trigger Point Release
Perfect for shoulders, back, hips, and glutes. Lean against a wall, place the ball on a tender spot, and gently roll until the tension melts. Think of it as a mini deep tissue session you can do anytime.

3. Foam Rolling for Circulation + Mobility
A few slow passes along your quads, hamstrings, or upper back can improve blood flow, loosen fascia, and help your body feel more open and supported.

4. Stretch or Move Like You’re Waking Up
Yoga, gentle stretching, or simply reaching your arms overhead can create space in your body. Even 3–5 minutes helps your muscles remember how to soften.

5. Unclench Your Jaw (Yes — right now)
Most people don’t realize how much tension they hold here. Let your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth, soften your cheeks, and breathe out slowly.

6. Create a 30 Second Decompression Ritual
• Shake out your hands • Roll your shoulders • Take one deep breath • Place a hand on your heart or belly and feel the breath moving through you. These small moments create big shifts over time.

Your body doesn’t need perfection — it needs presence.

Whether it’s been 6 months or 10, you are always welcome back when you’re ready. And until then, these little moments of care keep your system supported, grounded, and connected. ✨💜

✨Reiki is a deeply calming, restorative experience — but because it works with subtle energy, the sensations can be different for everyone.

Here are some of the most common ways clients describe what Reiki feels like:
• Warmth and gentle heat — Many people feel a soothing warmth radiating from the practitioner’s hands, even without direct touch.
• Soft waves of relaxation — A sense of the body “melting,” releasing tension layer by layer.
• Tingling or light buzzing — Subtle energetic movement that feels like tiny sparks or vibrations.
• Emotional release — Some clients feel a gentle shift, clarity, or a sense of lightness as emotions settle.
• Deep stillness — A quiet, meditative state where the mind softens and the nervous system unwinds.
• Coolness or spaciousness — Areas of the body may feel open, airy, or cool as energy rebalances.
• A sense of being held — Many describe feeling supported, grounded, and safe throughout the session.

There’s no “right” way to experience Reiki — your body receives exactly what it needs in the moment.
Whether you feel a lot, a little, or simply deep rest, Reiki creates space for healing, balance, and inner calm. 💜

This September we celebrate 8 beautiful years of growth, healing, and heart within this sanctuary that is Essentially Balanced. 🩷

What began as a quiet vision in Ashley's heart — a space where people could come to heal, breathe, and feel truly cared for — has grown into a flourishing sanctuary rooted in compassion, intuitive touch, and the gentle yet powerful transformations that unfold when the body and spirit are met with genuine presence.

Each session, each clients' story, each moment of stillness shared within these walls has shaped who we are.
We honor the practitioners who bring their gifts forward, the clients who trust us with their wellbeing, and the spirit of balance that guides every modality we offer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today we introduce you to our founding member of Essentially Balanced Massage - Ashley Michelle Wood, LMT
⭐Officially opened Essentially Balanced Massage on September 4, 2018⭐

"My journey into bodywork began long before I ever knew it would become my life’s work. I was thirteen, nursing a field hockey injury, when I received my first session of bodywork. One treatment — just one — shifted something profound in me. Not only did it help with my pain, it opened a door I didn’t know existed. I remember thinking, “I want to help people feel like this.” That moment planted the seed that has guided me ever since.

I’ve been practicing massage therapy since 2007, and in 2018 I opened Essentially Balanced Massage — a space created with intention, softness, and deep respect for the healing process. My foundation came from the Central Maine School of Massage, but my education has never really stopped. I’ve taken one to three courses every year since graduating, following my curiosity into the worlds of fascia, self-healing work, energy work, postural alignment, sound healing, and the many ways the body speaks when we learn how to listen.

Before massage, I worked with the public, cared for seniors, and even worked the front desk at a massage center while I was in school. All of those experiences taught me how to hold space, how to listen, and how to meet people exactly where they are — skills that shape every session I offer.

My work is a blend of therapeutic bodywork and intuitive, energetic healing. I’m deeply connected to slow, focused techniques like myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and deep tissue work. I love the way fascia tells its story, the way energy shifts beneath the surface, and the way the body unwinds when given time and permission.

Over the years, I’ve trained in:
• Myofascial Release
• Deep Tissue & Swedish Massage
• Sports & Prenatal Massage
• Craniosacral Therapy
• Raindrop Technique
• Ear Candling
• Reiki (Master Level)
• Shamanic clearing, past life regression, polarity, inner child connection, energetic pattern release, and inner guidance work
• Sound Therapy
• Neurofascial Rebalancing

I’m currently exploring how sound and frequency influence the fascial network — a passion that keeps expanding the more I learn. I also plan to continue my Craniosacral training into advanced levels.

What I Bring to the Table
My greatest strength is listening — not just to your words, but to the subtle language of your body. I work intuitively, letting your system guide the pace and direction of each session.

My goal is always to create a space where you can soften, release, and feel supported in whatever you’re moving through.

I feel especially aligned with clients’ experiencing:
• Chronic pain
• Emotional overwhelm or transitions
• Pre and post surgical needs
• Neurological conditions (neuropathy, MS, fibromyalgia)
• Shoulder, neck, scalp, and spinal tension
• Injury recovery or prevention
• A deep desire to relax and forget the world for a while

When you leave my table, I want you to feel refreshed, brighter, more spacious — like you’ve come home to yourself. I want you to feel heard, cared for, and supported. I offer tools and gentle “homework” when helpful, so you can continue nurturing your body and energy outside the treatment room.

🩷Essentially Balanced Massage is more than a practice to me. It’s a sanctuary. A place where healing is honored, where your body’s wisdom is trusted, and where you are welcomed exactly as you are." - Ashley Michelle
