Are pale gums an emergency?

Your pet's gums can be an important indicator of their overall health. A sudden change in gum color may signal that something serious is happening.

If you notice a concerning change, especially along with weakness, collapse, or difficulty breathing, don't wait to seek veterinary care.

Go to the ER if your pet has pale gums along with:
-Weakness or collapse
-Difficulty breathing
-Rapid breathing or heart rate
-Severe lethargy

🥾🐶 Hitting the trails with your pup? Make it sure it's not ruff!

Monsoon season means snakes are more active, so keep your dog leashed, stay on marked trails, avoid tall grass, and pack plenty of water for both of you. And don't forget: Phoenix trails are closed to dogs when temperatures reach 100° or higher to help protect them from dangerous heat.

My Pet Ate .....

My pet ate something they shouldn't have ... now what?

Pets are curious, and sometimes that curiosity leads them to things they should never eat.

If your pet gets into something unexpected, try to:
🐾 Remove access to the item if it is safe to do so
🐾 Keep the packaging or ingredient list if available
🐾 Note what was eaten, at roughly what time, and how much
🐾 Seek out care of a veterinarian

Some toxins and foreign objects can cause serious problems, even if your pet seems fine at first.

Meet Hashbrown- our Patient of the Month!

Hashbrown presented to AVECCC Buckeye for coughing, wheezing and lethargy.
Despite making two visits to the hospital, this sweet boy never let it dampen his spirits. He kept everyone smiling with his goofy personality and lovable charm throughout his stay.
After some lab work and radiographs were taken, Hashbrown received IV fluids, antibiotics, and additional supportive care. We’re happy to report that he is back to his happy, healthy self!

We are so proud of this resilient pup and grateful we could be part of his journey back to feeling his best.
