Catching up on May

Week 2: The Moves – Physical Activity

🦴Regular physical activity helps support bone strength and reduces the risk of falls.
Weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening exercises, like walking or resistance training, can help maintain bone density and improve balance. Even small amounts of movement throughout
the day can add up.

What’s YOUR favorite way to stay active?

❤️ New Hire 💙

Please join us in welcoming Tyler to the Made New team!

He might be a familiar face to some, as he was our student back when the company was just getting started.

Here is a little bit more about Tyler:

Tyler is excited to begin his career as a Physical Therapist and serve patients throughout the local community.

He completed both his undergraduate degree and Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Messiah University, graduating from the DPT program in 2026. During physical therapy school, Tyler pursued continuing education courses toward becoming a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) and plans to complete his certification in the summer of 2026.

Tyler enjoys treating a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, with special interests in working with golfers and patients experiencing vertigo. He is passionate about combining hands-on manual therapy techniques with individualized exercise programs to help patients improve mobility, decrease pain, and return to the activities that are most meaningful to them.

Outside of the clinic, Tyler enjoys spending time with family, golfing, and playing with his goldendoodle, Sadie.

His first day is Monday the 1st, tomorrow!

✨Patient Spotlight✨

Meet Deb! Deb was a ray of sunshine and a cheery smile at every appointment, even with the frustrating diagnoses of frozen shoulder. She has done incredible! And we have loved working with her. 🥰

⬇️Check her story below!

“I was experiencing severe pain, very limited range and loss strength in my left shoulder and arm. After x-rays, an MRI, and injections in my shoulder (diagnosis was a frozen shoulder) I knew I needed PT and I wanted to work with Dr. Jen Rice, so I came to Made New PT.

My experiences and recovery at Made New PT have been really amazing. I was in a lot of discomfort and had very limited use of my left shoulder and arm when I started therapy.

Dr. Rice and Julia Mongeau were very compassionate and honest about how my treatments and recovery would be. Both were gentle in their approaches/treatment sessions and encouraging when I felt I should do better more quickly.

Now after 5 months of therapy and exercises at home I am now feeling great….no pain and my range and movement is excellent. I am now able to resume all the activities that I could do prior to my frozen shoulder and can return to my exercise workouts and playing tennis.

The entire staff at Made New PT made me feel welcome each time I arrived. The way they work together as a team, and the atmosphere they create together is AWESOME! I felt as if I was a friend not a number or simply a patient. After my personal experience I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Rice (Jen) and Julia for physical therapy. The name of the practice Made New PT basically describes how my body feels now, “Made New”.”

🫶🏻We had such a great turnout for Jen’s first Healthy Bones free educational talk on Friday morning, and we’re feeling so grateful for everyone who came out and made the session such a success.

😳We had 47 attendees, which exceeded expectations for our first session, and it was incredible to see the room so engaged. Jen shared practical, easy-to-understand education on osteoporosis, osteopenia, and bone health, along with strength-building strategies and everyday habits that support long-term bone health.

🎟️Throughout the morning, there were great questions and discussion, which made the session even more interactive and meaningful. We also had 2 raffle basket winners, adding a fun touch to the event!

🦴A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped create such a welcoming, supportive environment. These talks are all about making bone health education more accessible and giving people tools they can actually apply in their daily lives.

And of course, a special thank you to Jennifer Rice for leading the talk with so much knowledge, clarity, and care. Shoutout to Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation of which Jen is a Peer Educator!

If you’re concerned about osteoporosis or osteopenia, or want to be proactive about your bone health, Jen is available for care plans that can be billed through insurance. Reach out to our office to learn more or schedule an appointment.

Meet Mia! 💃🏻☘️

We got to know this sweetheart while helping her rehab her foot and get back to doing what she loves most - competitive Irish dancing! We’re so proud of all the hard work she put in along the way.

See what she had to say about her PT experience below ⬇️

“I had been having foot pain on the bottom of my foot for over a year.

Being a competitive Irish dancer, I would have excruciating pain while dancing, but I was never able to rest properly because I had to keep going. It originally only hurt while dancing, but then I started to have pain even just walking, especially during my golf season. It was a rough year of constant pain and wondering what was going on.

I went to a doctor and found out that I had plantar fasciitis with tendonitis. A friend of my dad recommended Made New, and right after I had my initial appointment, I instantly felt relieved and knew that I would be fixed up ASAP. Every single physical therapist is so unbelievably kind and makes every patient feel supported and comfortable.

Now, I am able to dance to my full capability, and was even able to compete at the World Championships for Irish Dance without any pain!

Unlike ever before in any PT I have been to, these physical therapists want a true relationship with their patients which is a reason I enjoyed my experience so much. They were so excited to know more about me and my Irish dancing career.

“I will forever rave about how amazing Made New has been for me and recommend it to anyone that has been injured!!“

Umbrellas up! ☔️

Julia went back to her old stomping grounds at Hempfield High School this weekend as they hosted the Lancaster-Lebanon Track & Field League Championship Meet.

She enjoyed catching up with some of her former track & field coaches while also seeing several of our patients competing and spectating throughout the day!

Rain or shine, it was great to be part of such an exciting community event.
