My entire day was brightened when I got this update from a family I took care of last summer:

“Hello Dr. Renno. This is Jannette, Rowan’s (aka “Tidbit”) Mom. I just wanted to follow up and let you know our breastfeeding journey is still going strong. Rowan just turned 9 months, wearing 18 month clothes (not so Tidbit anymore). He is happy and healthy. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for helping make this journey so much better than my first.

We so appreciate you. The 12 months I pumped with my first baby I shed SO many tears, wishing it could be different. This time around has been so different, even with all its challenges there has been joy. Your classes and home visit made all the difference.”

This sweet message prompted me to go back and look at my notes from those earliest days, long nights, and challenging weeks. Wow. What a happy “ending” (but they’re not done yet!).

Jannette, thank you for trusting me, and for putting your heart, mind, and body into this labor of love for Rowan. I’m proud of you and happy for you!
