First day back for our Education Team 📚

We thought today was the perfect time to share something you may not know. When a patient receives inpatient treatment at Pinnacle Pointe Hospital, they still go to school!

Through our strong partnership with the Arkansas Department of Education, our Education Team collaborates with your child’s school district to help ensure they can keep up with their education while receiving the care they need.

Mental health is just as important as a child’s education. When children feel their best, they can do their best at school, at home, and in life.

At Pinnacle Pointe, we are here to care for the whole child. 🫶

If your child is struggling with separation anxiety, trouble sleeping, irritability, headaches, stomachaches, or difficulty adjusting to school, they may need a little extra support. At Pinnacle Pointe Hospital, we’re here to help children and families navigate these challenges and start the school year on the right foot.

Helping children prepare for the back-to-school transition can make the start of the school year feel less overwhelming and more manageable.

While the first days of school often bring excitement, they can also lead to feelings of worry, frustration or uncertainty. Parents and guardians can help by setting expectations and practicing ways to handle common situations.

A few tips that can help with the transition:
• Return to regular bedtimes and morning routines before school begins.
• Talk positively about the upcoming school year while giving your child space to share any concerns.
• Review transportation, drop-off, classroom and after-school plans.
• Let your child help choose school supplies, clothing or lunch options.
• Practice calming strategies, such as taking slow breaths, counting to 10 or asking a trusted adult for help.
• Role-play situations your child may encounter at school. Role-playing provides a safe opportunity to practice communication skills, build confidence and reinforce that it is okay to ask for help.

As the school year approaches, check in regularly with your child. Listen without immediately trying to solve the problem, reassure them that their feelings are valid and remind them that trusted adults are available to support them.

Preparation, patience and open communication can help children start the school year feeling more comfortable and confident.
