Southern Legacy of Life- formerly ARORA We restore lives through the recovery of organs and tissues!

Southern Legacy of Life (formerly known as ARORA) was established in 1987 to recover organs and tissues for life-saving and life-enhancing transplants. Our mission also includes providing accurate information about the donation process and to encourage Arkansans to register to become organ, tissue and eye donors.

More than 30,000 African American, and about 22,000 Hispanic and Latino, patients are waiting for organ transplants. In fact, 60% of people on the national transplant waiting list are people of color. For National Multicultural Donor Awareness month, SLL strives to increase the diversity of organ and tissue donors, and improve access to transplants in communities of color. Raphael's story is a beautiful reminder that one gift can change another person's future. 💙💚
Through tissue donation, Raphael helped improve the life of a young girl named Abigail, giving her the opportunity to get back to doing what she loves most; playing volleyball. 🏐
While Marquisha continues to honor her son's legacy, Abigail's journey is a powerful example of how tissue donation can restore mobility, healing, and hope.

Sixty percent of people on the national transplant waiting list are minorities, but only about 30% are organ donors. While people of different races frequently match one another, compatible blood types and tissue markers are critical qualities for matches, and are often found in people of the same background. That’s why it’s vital the number of registered minority organ donors improves. Learn more and register today at WeRestoreLives.org

We are proud to introduce our newly redesigned website, a powerful step forward in how we serve Arkansas. This isn’t just a new look. It’s a more intentional experience designed to bring clarity, compassion, and connection to one of the most important decisions a person can make.

With the new site, you can now:
• Better understand the organ and tissue donation journey from start to finish
• Experience the real, life-changing impact of donation through powerful stories
• Access meaningful support and resources for families navigating loss

We’ve also enhanced the donor registry, making it easier than ever to register, update your preferences, and take control of your decision. This is more than a website. It’s a stronger way to honor every gift and save more lives.

The SLL leadership team recently attended the Annual Association of Organ Procurement Organizations - AOPO Meeting in Orlando, joining experts from across the country to explore emerging trends, best practices, and innovative solutions that strengthen the donation and transplantation system. Members of our Organ Recovery team, Matt Ellison and Laney Phillips, presented on innovative techniques SLL has implemented to grow donation. The whole team was excited to bring new ideas home as we continue serving our communities and restoring lives.

We were honored to welcome Miss Mississippi, Jane Granberry, to Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency, continuing a meaningful tradition of sharing the lifesaving impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation with those who serve as ambassadors for our state.

During her visit, she learned more about the donation process from referral through recovery, the compassion shown by donor families, and the profound difference organ, eye, and tissue donation makes for recipients and their loved ones.

Thank you, Jane, for taking the time to learn more about our mission and for helping raise awareness about the gift of life. ❤️
