C-sections can be a life saving procedure for both mom and baby. This animation shows the number of layers of tissue a doctor must cut through in order to access the baby.

Each layer must heal. When several layers are damaged at the same time, the scar tissue that forms can adhere to the surrounding tissue and scar tissue causing adhesions.

This scar tissue can be visually unappealing which will improve with scar work; but the tissue under the skin can cause back pain, knee problems, bladder urgency, and more.

This is an interesting video partly because it explains the Achilles tendon but, also because it touches on scar tissue. The specimen in the video had scar tissue from an Achilles injury *** but did not get scar tissue work *** the video does not say this but they do explain the scar tissue adhesions which scar work addresses.

Internal injuries cause scar tissue, too.

If you have had an internal injury (sprain, strain, rupture, etc), even an old one, ask your therapist about possible scar tissue. A 30 year old shoulder injury might be causing your back pain. Book a session and let’s find out!

Cool or lukewarm water: Keep the water temperature low to avoid stopping the tan from developing.

Short rinse: Stay in for just 2 to 3 minutes and let the water gently run over your skin.

No scrubbing: Use only your hands—no washcloths or scrubbing.

Pat dry: Gently pat your skin with a towel instead of rubbing it
