Our office will be closed Thursday July 30 to allow our providers and staff to attend the funeral for Jackie Lea Olivo. Jackie worked as a Medical Assistant at the front desk and greeted our patients when they came in and as they left our clinic. She had so many other roles and truly loved caring for everyone. She arranged birthday celebrations, baby showers and holiday decorations at the clinic.
We were all heartbroken to learn of her passing last week. We have carried a heavy heart since then but will pay our respects and celebrate her life tomorrow. She will be in the hands the Lord which gives us faith and comfort.

At ADEC we are one of the few global research centers, and the only center in Arkansas using this “self driving car” and already have experience with this device in our Research Center. With adults and pediatrics with T1 & T2 diabetes using a Fully Automated Insulin Device.

The research department and clinicians from ADEC spent 4 days at the American Diabetes Association Annual Conference learning about new therapies for the treatment of Diabetes on the horizon and how to better care for our patients. We also connected with a lot of industry to become involved in future therapies that we will commit to Research in Arkansas This conference is a global conference and it is what keeps us at the forefront of Research and Endocrinology. Dr. Thrasher got to introduce our PA’s Sarah and Grace to Dr. Bruce Bode. Dr. Bruce Bode is known as the man who literally wrote the book on insulin pumping. The results of the TRIUMPH-1 Study (retatrutide not yet FDA approved) which many Arkansans participated was thrilling to see and overwhelmed the audience! We thank all of our research participants greatly! These conferences are key to keeping us at the most up-to-date knowledge and leading the path to new therapies on how to best help our patients with diabetes and it’s complications. — at New Orleans Ernest N. Lilly announced results from the TRIUMPH 1 (retatrutide) study we did in our research center. 85 pound weight loss and 30% reduction in weight.

The results — the most weight loss ever seen in a medication trial — put the drug’s effectiveness on par with bariatric surgery.

We are happy to announce that we have added another Physician Associate to our group, Grace Barker, PA-C. A native of McCrory, Grace earned a BS degree in Exercise Science at Harding University and Masters Of Medical Science, Physician Assistant from Lincoln Memorial University in Knoxville, TN. She will be training in Endocrinology here at ADEC. She will start seeing patients once her training has completed. If you see her in clinic or research give her a warm welcome.
