Thank you, Dr. Taiquitha Robins, the TriAXIS committee, and Arkansas Baptist College for hosting the inaugural Community Health Expo! 🏛️✨

It was such a joy meeting everyone and sharing how the Arkansas Minority Health Commission works every day to support our community! ❤️ It was wonderful witnessing the support of partners like Jefferson Comprehensive Care System, Inc., UAMS Fay W. We were honored to be part of the very first Arkansas HPV Elimination Roundtable conference! 🏛️✨

HPV is a common viral infection, and while the body’s immune system usually clears the virus naturally, it can sometimes lead to serious cancers in men and women. That is why we are teaming up with leaders across the state to spread awareness, protect our communities, and work toward eliminating HPV-related cancers for good! 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

• The HPV vaccine can be provided beginning at age 9. 💉👦🏾👧🏾 Parents/guardians are encouraged to talk with their child’s healthcare provider about the right age to begin. 👩🏾‍⚕️
• The HPV vaccine is approved for young adults up to age 26, and some adults up to age 45. 👩🏾‍🎓👷🏾‍♂️
• Pap smears and primary HPV tests are critical for detecting abnormal cell changes early, long before they can develop into cervical cancer. 🔬🩺

Looking forward to working with this great group of community partners and stakeholders from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Arkansas Children's, UAMS - University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas Department of Health, CARTI, Little Rock School District, and more to eliminate HPV. 🙌🏾
