Many women are reluctant to seek help with mental health issues, particularly those in the South, PRI’s Hannah Williams, M.D., told KATV-TV’s Daniela Dehaghani, Saturday on “Saturday Daybreak.” “Moms are trying to do everything and be the epitome of perfection, and it’s hard for us to realize that we need help and to ask for help,” said Williams, who urged women with mental health concerns to contact PRI’s Women’s Mental Health Program.

Our Women's Mental Health Clinic is here for you. No referral needed (pregnancy through 12 months post-partum as well as pregnancy planning). Call 501-526-8201.

The next generation of mental health advocates are here for the summer, and we couldn't be more excited ☀️

Today PRI is welcoming undergraduate interns from University of Arkansas, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and Northeastern University. They'll be diving into marketing, community outreach, and perhaps even staging a social media takeover (stay tuned 👀), all in service of our mission to advance mental health care in Arkansas and beyond. Welcome to the team. We're so glad you're here.

"We don't air our problems outside this family." Most of us grew up hearing something like that...it probably came from love, but it's worth a second look.
Each May, Mental Health Awareness Month gives us 31 days to talk about this openly. Here's a gentle challenge for the other 11 months: just notice it. In conversations, in assumptions, in the things left unsaid at the doctor's office.

The May issue of Arkansas Money & Politics (AMP) magazine focused on nursing and the role nurses play in the state’s hospitals. Becoming a mom is one of the most significant transitions a woman can experience, and for many, it comes with mental health challenges that go unrecognized and untreated.

Dr. Erin Jefferson from PRI's Women's Mental Health UAMS Northwest Regional Campus - Fayetteville Program recently joined the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement Healthy Birthing Journey Podcast to discuss exactly that. In Episode 6, she talks through the importance of depression screening during pregnancy and the postpartum period, what treatment options look like, and where Arkansas moms can turn for support.
