On behalf of the New Jersey State Society of Physician Associates (NJSSPA), we are pleased to formally endorse Leslie Clayton, DMSc, PA-C, DFAAPA for AAPA President-Elect.
This endorsement follows a formal vote of the NJSSPA Board of Directors and reflects our unified support.
Ms. Clayton brings nearly three decades of clinical experience, along with exceptional leadership at both the state and national levels. Her service as Speaker of the AAPA House of Delegates and current Board member demonstrates deep governance expertise and the ability to lead complex, diverse
stakeholder groups. Her work in health system leadership and advanced practice workforce
optimization further reflects a clear understanding of how to elevate PA practice while improving patient care.
Her proven track record in advocacy is especially aligned with NJSSPA priorities. Ms. Clayton has
successfully led legislative efforts to modernize PA practice, remove unnecessary supervisory barriers, expand access to care, and advance the PA Compact; issues that closely mirror New Jersey’s ongoing
focus on:
• modernizing scope of practice and reducing administrative burden,
• advancing licensure portability through the PA Compact,
• improving reimbursement and recognition of PAs as essential providers, and
• expanding access to care, particularly in primary care and behavioral health.
Additionally, her background as an educator and national speaker highlights her commitment to
professional development and the long-term strength of the PA workforce.
Ms. Clayton’s platform is centered on removing barriers to practice, strengthening the profession
across all care settings, and advancing strategic, system-level change which resonates strongly with the goals of NJSSPA and the needs of PAs and patients in New Jersey.
We are confident in her ability to lead the profession forward and are proud to offer our endorsement.
