Summer vibes!
So many patients come in and apologize for not having shaved, for not getting a manicure or pedicure, coming straight to their appointment from running errands or from the gym... my response: if you surveyed me at the end of the day and asked who didn't shave their legs or who's toes weren't painted, I wouldn't be able to tell you! Come to my office as you are and know that my focus is making you feel better, not body shaming you for societal expectations! Here you will find a space that's welcoming, calm and healing.

Does it hurt?! New patients often come in and the 1st thing they say is "I don't like needles. Does it hurt?"
Acupuncture is experienced differently by each individual, although some points may be intense or sensitive, acupuncture overall is not painfull.
Sensations people may feel:
A dull workout ache
Fluttery movments
A pulsating sensation
A heavy weighted blanket feel over the whole body
Acupuncture stimulates our vagus nerve and allows our bodies to enter its rest and digest phase, where our body can heal, and in this state most people get a little acu nap, and come out of a treatment feeling relaxed, refreshed and calm!
With all of this being said, remember you as a patient always have body autonomy! If you're ever uncomfortable, or something is painful, please tell your practioner, whether they be an acupuncturist, doctor, dentist, PT. Your feelings matter!

Fire & slide cupping! Rather than the plastic suction cups many practioners use, acupuncturists often fire cup. Sliding the cups around releases tissue and fascia in ways that have that hurts so good sensation. Cupping can also increase circulation, move lymph and aid in respiratory support.
