There are 10 regional affiliates throughout Massachusetts that meet independently and hold events.

The Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (MCNP) was organized in 1992 to provide focused representation and support of issues relevant to all Massachusetts Nurse Practitioners regardless of specialty or organizational affiliation. 📣 Applications are now open for the MCNP Advocacy and Health Policy Fellowship!

This 2-year fellowship is designed for nurse practitioners who want to expand their impact through advocacy, legislative engagement, and health policy.

Selected fellows will receive structured mentorship and approximately 200 hours of instruction and hands-on experience while contributing to healthcare policy initiatives that support MCNP’s advocacy agenda.

Participants will build practical skills in:
✔ Health policy analysis
✔ Legislative testimony and bill tracking
✔ Op-ed and advocacy writing
✔ Stakeholder and SWOT analysis
✔ Social media advocacy
✔ Legislative hearings and direct engagement with lawmakers
✔ The Massachusetts legislative process

Eligibility:
• Current MCNP member
• At least two years of NP experience
• Commitment to the full two-year fellowship

🗓️ Application deadline: September 18, 2026
🚀 Fellowship begins: November 2026
💲 Free for participating MCNP members

Only 3–4 fellows will be selected for this cycle.

📢 There's Still Time to Submit Your Speaker Proposal!

Are you an NP with expertise to share? There’s still time to submit a proposal to speak at the 2027 New England Regional Nurse Practitioner Conference, taking place May 6–7, 2027 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Westborough, MA.

We're seeking 60-minute presentations on clinical or professional topics that are evidence-based, free of commercial bias, and relevant to NP practice. Help educate, inspire, and empower your NP colleagues by sharing your knowledge!

✨ Congratulations to our MCNP colleague, Dr. Monica O'Reilly-Jacob, on the publication of her latest research in Nursing Outlook!

In "The Facilitators and Barriers of Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Practice Ownership: A Qualitative Analysis,"Dr. O'Reilly-Jacob and her co-authors explore the challenges and opportunities facing nurse practitioner-owned primary care practices. The study identifies structural barriers—including reimbursement disparities, credentialing delays, limited access to capital, and administrative burdens—as well as the innovative strategies NP practice owners use to improve access to patient-centered care.

As demand for primary care continues to grow, this important research helps inform the policy changes needed to support NP-owned practices and expand access to high-quality care, particularly in underserved communities.

Join us for a very special evening as we celebrate the official opening of the Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner History Archives—a lasting tribute to the pioneering nurse practitioners who helped shape the profession in Massachusetts and across the nation.

Led by Karen Wolf in collaboration with Joyce Pulcini, Patricia Rissmiller, Patricia White, and Patricia Maher, the Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner History Project has preserved the voices and experiences of the first generation of Massachusetts nurse practitioners.

The collection includes 45 oral history interviews, photographs, reports, papers, and other historical materials documenting the evolution of NP practice in Massachusetts. Expanded in 2026 to include the experiences of male nurse practitioners and nurse practitioners of color, these archives are now permanently housed at Simmons University Library and available through the Simmons University Digital Archives.

MCNP is honored to serve as the steward of this historic collection, ensuring these stories are preserved for future generations.

We hope you'll join us as we celebrate this important milestone and honor the extraordinary pioneers whose legacy continues to inspire the NP profession. Light refreshments will be served.
