IN OUR CARE
Our friend, Beth MacLean, went off to explore the universe after dying tragically in a house fire, which also claimed her beloved dog, Bella on May 2, 2026. She was only 71.

Beth lived in Pepperell and, before that, in Groton, and Tynsboro.

Beth was an independent, talented, and hardworking woman. Although she was the last of her biological family, she built a family around her including life long friends (Joanne, Joyce, Nancy, and others) from Lexington high school where she graduated in 1972. Her friends from JUGS and Maple Leaf Village will remember her fun spirit.

After high school, Beth studied mechanical engineering. She worked as an engineering support specialist for local companies before she retired. She also developed a devoted group of friends while bartending at (the former) Rancho de Amigos in Westford, and other local restaurants.

Beth was an avid gardener who was always planting some new hybrid foliage in her yard. From May to October her gardens were abloom with her favorite plants, including her azalea. She said she knew it was spring when her azalea began to bloom.

Beth was a Graphic Designer, artist, writer, and photographer. She was also a blues aficionado and got friends together for trips to see the best blues bands in New England. She had a deep understanding and love of the traditions and customs of the American Indian.

She was kindhearted, helping friends in need. We will miss her yearly Christmas letters, her snappy comebacks, and her wit.

Many thanks to friend Lisa for taking care of things and to Beth’s neighbor, Karen, who helped her immensely in her final months.

Farewell dear friend. We “love you more than chocolate”.

Beth was preceded in death by her former husband, Walter Peeler, her sister Linda Campbell, her mother Angela Langill (D’arrigo), her father Norman MacLean and stepfather Kenneth B. Langill.

Her friends and “Charm School” pals are welcome to gather on June 14th from 4:30 to 6:30 at Il Forno Restaurant, 529 King Street, Littleton MA 01460.

Let’s send her off in style.

Her warm spirit and unwavering love for those around her left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Karen's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact of a welcoming smile. Karen's heart was as expansive as the beaches she cherished, from the sun-kissed shores of Aruba to the serene sands of Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester. Her love for the ocean was matched only by her love for her family and friends. Known affectionately as "Auntie" to many,

IN OUR CARE
Thomas F. Grady III died at his home in Littleton, Massachusetts, on May 19, 2026, at the age of 71.

Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on March 18, 1955, he was the third of six children of Thomas Grady II and Jeannette (Charbonneau) Grady. He enjoyed an active childhood, bicycling the streets of Manchester and getting into harmless mischief with his friends. He participated in several sports, including Pop Warner football, enthusiastically recalling several championship seasons even decades later; he also swam competitively and played basketball for his high school teams. His antics as an altar boy were well known to many, as well as witty depictions of schoolboy pranks on the priests and nuns of his conservative Catholic elementary school.

Tom graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He began his career as a claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual and Wausau Insurance in New Jersey and Massachusetts before pursuing a career in law. He earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1987.

He spent nearly fifteen years with the Law Offices of Wayne A. Perkins in Somerville, where he represented both plaintiffs and defendants in workers’ compensation and Social Security disability matters. In 2002, Tom established his own workers’ compensation practice in Davis Square, Somerville. He concluded his legal career in 2018 as workers’ compensation litigation counsel for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Tom’s signature qualities were his amazing voice, quick humor, and extraordinary memory. He had a remarkable recall for historical events and trivia. He loved music and could effortlessly break into songs spanning the 1940s, Motown, and classic rock, as well as old Irish ballads, always finding the perfect lyric for the moment. Family and friends were delighted by his comic accents and renditions of Monty Python routines, Saturday Night Live sketches, and clever New Yorker cartoon captions.

Outside of work, Tom embraced the outdoors. He equally loved hiking the conservation trails in his hometown of Littleton as he did the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The beauty of the natural world brought him palpable joy. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of both a golf league and a billiards team. He also served on the Littleton Board of Health and coached his son’s basketball team to an undefeated season.

Tom leaves his wife, Maryellen, and three children and their spouses, Emily Grady and Alex Beecher (Geneva, Switzerland), Nate Grady and Annelie Abney (Melrose, MA), and Maeve Grady and Ben Winters (Washington, DC), and four grandsons, Theo, Oliver, August, and Lucien. He is also mourned by his siblings, Patricia Klofas, Timothy Grady, and Lisa Gilbert, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Susan and John.

Tom’s friendliness, humor, and intellect will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Donations in Tom’s name may be made to the Littleton Conservation Trust. https://littletonconservationtrust.org/

Born on November 15, 1948, in Concord, Massachusetts, David was the son of the late James and Mary (Welsh) Wheeler. He was raised in Westford and was a graduate of Westford Academy.

David built a strong and hardworking life. He owned and operated his own business, WheelMore Trucking, along with holding many other jobs throughout his years. He ultimately retired as a proud and dedicated member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4. His work ethic, skill, and commitment earned him the respect of many, especially those who had the opportunity to work alongside him.

David had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures, along with a spirited sense of fun, enjoying laughter, good times, and a bit of mischief over the years with the people he loved most. He and his wife, Krystal, loved to travel, cherishing the memories they created together along the way. He enjoyed camping, attending events, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycle pulling and the community surrounding it. Through BayState Harley Pullers, he, along with his wife, helped organize and participate in local pulling events for many years. It meant a great deal to him to see this passion come full circle again later in life with OMT (One More Time) Harley Pullers.

Among his favorite adventures were the “Wheeler Brothers’ Expeditions,” traveling to places such as Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. He was happiest when surrounded by those he cared about and often said, “It’s not where you go, but who you go with,” reflecting how deeply he valued time spent with loved ones.

IN OUR CARE
Suzan Rae Davis, a compassionate and creative soul, passed away on May 8, 2026. Her life was defined by her charismatic, joyful personality along with an unwavering dedication to her community and family.

Born in Attleboro on January 16, 1959, Suzan was a graduate of Becker Junior College, where she trained as a Medical Secretary. Early in her career, Suzan was a secretary at Digital Corp. in Maynard, MA, a prominent employer at the time. She eventually found her niche in the medical field as an Operating Room Schedular for Dr. Fred Lea, OBGYN at Emerson Hospital.

Suzan’s career eventually took a deeply personal turn when she became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). This allowed her to become the primary caretaker for her mother beginning in 1999 when she became ill. She spent the next twelve years as her mother’s caregiver until Shirley was admitted to an Assisted Living Facility. Suzan became an employee at Littleton Life Care, at which time her father was a patient. She continued to be his devoted CNA until his passing in 2019.

This extensive experience in caregiving led her to become the center’s Assistant Activities Director. In this role, Suzan used her natural creativity to become an essential part of the lives of the patients in the Dementia Unit, where her empathy and vibrant spirit made her irreplaceable in the lives and hearts of the patients as well as their families.

As a resident of Littleton, Suzan found joy in life’s simple pleasures – whether that be soaking up the rays at Salisbury Beach or expressing her creativity through her crafts with the patients in the dementia unit.

Above all, her family and friends were her heart. She was a devoted mother to her son, Jeffery Mann, and his significant other, Samantha, Penni’s Mom. She was a loving sister to Betsy Smith (and her husband Tom) and Lauren Nealley. Her greatest light however, was her granddaughter, Penelope “Penni” Rae Mann, who was the absolute apple of her eye.

Though preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Shirley Davis, Suzan’s legacy of kindness and joy live on in those that knew her.

We invite you to celebrate her beautiful and exuberant life by sharing memories and photos on her memorial page. Her spirit remains a guiding light for all who knew her.

The Celebration of her Life will be May 31, 2026 at 1 PM at the Leominster Eagles, 456 Litchfield St., Leominster MA 01453.
