Manoogian Manor The Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged In 1949 the first "Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged" was opened in a small farmhouse in Detroit. and Mrs.
(1)

This was made possible through the efforts of thirteen dedicated Armenian women and the entire Armenian community. In 1964, a ten acre parcel of land was purchased in order to meet the demands of caring for the elderly. Manoogian Manor became a reality with the dreams, foresight and determination of many individuals, as well as the generous support of our benefactors, Mr. Alex Manoogian. In 1970 t

he doors opened and the facility was officially dedicated to the memory of Mr. Alex Manoogian's parents: The Takvor and Takouhi Manoogian Manor. Since these begining days, Manoogian Manor expanded to house 70 residents, ensuring our elderly a continuance of family life filled with peace comfort and security.

Another look at one of our newest resident favorites... Ski Ball Unlimited!

Created by our own Life Enrichment team, this game combines movement, laughter, and just the right amount of friendly competition. Judging by all the smiles, we'd say it's a winner!

🚨 NEW GAME ALERT! Watch our residents try Ski Ball Unlimited for the very first time!

At Manoogian Manor, some of our favorite activities don't come from a store, they're created right here by our incredible Life Enrichment team!

Introducing Ski Ball Unlimited, a brand-new game dreamed up by Bryce, Briana, and our intern, Medha. Inspired by the classic arcade favorite, this creative twist brings all the excitement of skee-ball to a tabletop game that everyone can enjoy.

Residents had a blast taking turns rolling the balls down the custom-built lanes, cheering each other on, and celebrating every great shot. There were smiles, laughs, a little friendly competition, and plenty of encouragement from everyone in the room.

Activities like these are about so much more than having fun. They encourage movement, coordination, focus, problem-solving, and social connection, all while creating moments our residents look forward to sharing together.

A huge congratulations to Bryce, Briana, and Medha for turning a creative idea into another unforgettable Manoogian Manor experience. We can't wait to see what you invent next!

πŸš€β˜€οΈ A Day of New Adventures

Our residents recently enjoyed a beautiful summer outing to Kensington Metropark, complete with a relaxing boat cruise on Kent Lake and lunch at The Grand Diner.

For one resident, Anna, it was a truly unforgettable day. She later shared that it was her first time ever on a boat. Though she was nervous, she embraced the experience and ended the trip with hugs, smiles, and heartfelt thanks for everyone who helped make it possible.

The rest of our group enjoyed the sunshine, fresh air, beautiful scenery, and wonderful fellowship together.

At Manoogian Manor, it's never too late to try something new, make a memory, or accomplish a lifelong dream. ❀️

Celebrating America, One Craft at a Time! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ†

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate our country, our freedoms, and the memories we've made along the way.

Our residents got into the patriotic spirit by creating festive Fourth of July crafts, sharing stories, laughter, and plenty of creativity around the table. Each project was as unique as the person who made it, adding a little extra red, white, and blue to Manoogian Manor.

The celebration wouldn't have been complete without a special treatβ€”a delicious cake proudly decorated with "Happy 250th Birthday, USA!" It was the perfect way to honor this historic milestone while spending quality time together with friends.

From creative afternoons to sweet celebrations, it's moments like these that make life at Manoogian Manor so special.

Big Pants Toss = Big Smiles! πŸ–οΈπŸ˜‚

Who says you need fancy equipment to have an unforgettable afternoon?

Our residents had an absolute blast during a spirited game of Big Pants Toss! Bryce was a great sport as he stepped into a pair of oversized pants while everyone worked together to toss colorful beach balls into the moving target.

There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and cheering with every successful toss. Activities like this help encourage movement, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and, most importantly, smiles that fill the room.

Sometimes the simplest games create the biggest memories.

At Manoogian Manor, we believe growing older never means growing out of having fun.

πŸ₯πŸ’ͺ Beating the Midweek Slump... One Drum at a Time! πŸ’ͺπŸ₯

Our recent SYDFIT session with Natalie was full of energy, movement, and smiles!

When a few residents were feeling a little sleepy, Bryce jumped into action with a creative idea by bringing out the big cardio drums for a fun warm-up. The room quickly came alive with music, rhythm, and laughter as everyone got moving together.

Natalie then led the group through chair aerobics and stretching, helping residents improve strength, flexibility, and mobility while having a great time.

A big thank you to Bryce for his leadership and enthusiasm, and to Natalie from SYDFIT for helping keep our residents active and engaged. Natalie joins us on the first and last Wednesday of each month, and our residents always look forward to her visits!

🎢🌳 Music, Sunshine, and a Perfect Summer Afternoon!

Our residents recently enjoyed a wonderful outing to Noon Beats & Eats at Riley Park in Downtown Farmington

We arrived before the afternoon heat, enjoying a light breeze, shady trees, and fantastic live music that everyone loved. In fact, the performer was so good, we may just have to invite them to perform here at Manoogian Manor someday! 🎀

A big thank you to our Dietary Team for preparing delicious turkey and cheese sandwiches, chips, and water, and to our Life Enrichment Team for treating everyone to banana and chocolate cookies for dessert. πŸͺ

Before heading home, we topped off the afternoon with a relaxing scenic drive and enjoyed a little extra time together on the road.

It's afternoons like these that make for wonderful memories and remind us that sometimes the simplest outings are the most meaningful.
